American Idol alum David Archuleta took home an award at the Latino-centric ALMA Awards in Los Angeles and (more importantly) he performed a beautiful, stripped down version of Contigo En La Distancia, a song most closely associated with Luis Miguel.
Archie did amazing amazing job with the song!

sonnyboy - The only time I ever saw David lip-sync was on a Thanksgiving Parade float in NY because the float played a recording of Crush. And it was cold out too. Yet even then I bet he was singing along. David sings everything live including patriotic songs at stadiums and many stars lipsync those. If you got the impression he was lipsyncing here, it's because a. he is so good and b. this is not the best video. There are a couple of HQ ones on YouTube and the ones posted by thop1984 and r2rod2 are really good. And BTW - the audience was full of Latino stars including people like Rita Moreno, Antonio Banderas, Oscar De La Hoya, Edward James Olmos etc. Someone who was at the show said David got a standing ovation.

Oh my gosh..David Archuleta was amazing on the ALMA Awards last night…and so deserving of his award. This song is so beautiful - love David's rendition! I am a huge fan of Davids. He is just an amazing singer/songwriter. I had the opportunity to meet and see David on tour this summer 4 times…and he just a phenomenal artist! His concerts are so much fun. I am also super excited because David is releasing a Christmas From the Heart album on Oct 13!

David Archuleta continues to prove on a daily basis why he is the best artist in the industry today. He is versatile, he has a voice that just won't quit, his musicality is unmatched and his spirit draws you to a place you've never been before. Though I have no idea what the translation to this song is, I understood the message, just from David's passion and delivery. I've watched it over and over in awe of his amazing talent. I'm so proud of him for achieving this award and he is most deserving of this recognition. Thank you Perez!

Wow, this kid CAN SANG!! It's been a long time to hear this much powerful and flawless vocals. Who has vocal power like this in current male music scene? Perfect pitch, smoothly flowing from low to high ranges with raw emotions. I don't have a clue on what he is saying but hats off to him.

David has one of those amazing voices, like Anthony Callea. If you want to hear another brilliant and spunky young singer, check out The Prayer by Anthony Callea Australian Idol with judges comments on youtube. It gave me shivers when I first saw the performance on Idol and even now on youtube, I get that feeling. With so many artists using autotune, it is refreshing to hear a pure voice.
