Emmys Score Big! Thank You, Neil Patrick Harris!
Despite the competing football game and the show's reputation for being a snoozefest, Sunday's Emmy Awards had a significant increase in ratings - probably due to the charm, wit and good looks of host Neil Patrick Harris.
Viewership was up 11% from last year, drawing in 13.3 million people and declaring it the most-watched Emmy telecast since 2006!
And the critics took note!
According to the Hollywood Reporter, "Harris was affable, charming and simultaneously self-deprecating and comically self-aggrandizing. But it wasn't just him."
Everyone loved that the show was split into five categories - comedy, drama, reality, variety and mini-series/TV movies!
It gave the evening some direction and made it watchable!
We hope NPH does it again!

He was on Ellen speaking about this and most of the material and ideas came from him. He rocks.

But Perez…how the hell did you miss this story, when you're loving Lindsay's breaking down….
"Police were called to the scene after Lindsay reportedly "threw a room-service tray at what she thought was her girlfriend's door" during a heated fight.
The only problem was…she threw that tray at the wrong door. As a result Lindsay was kicked out of the posh hotel, with authorities escorting her off the premises.
The same source claims Lindsay's friends and family are planning on staging an intervention to get her back in rehab for the fourth time! "

I only watched a little, but I thought NPH was great! Charming, good looking, funny enough and presented himself well.
Went to a bar and each time Neil said "Legendary" they all took a drink. Hasselhoff was there, he didn't last long.
He was ok, nothing earth shattering by any means.
I usually like NPH but I thought he was awful as the host of the Emmy's. I mean that whole bit about Captain Horrible. That's right, THAT was horrible.
he was so great! hilarious and cute…just a fresh breath of air!
He's just so likable. Moreover, he's family-friendly. It's so nice to see a child star excel later in life, to really find his spot in the limelight, and to seem happy about it all.
On another note, loved the intros using obscure credits for major stars. Someone must have read all the way to the bottom of these stars' IMDB pages! And, the announcer, fresh and funny.

The show was sooooo boring…I don't usually watch fb, but switched over to watch the game, which was a lot more entertaining.
Niel patrick harris did such a FANTASTIC job!! He's so likable, and fun, and charming and such a natural on stage. I swear he made the show worth watching. His skits were hilarious!
He's the bestest host evah! Hope he hosts the Oscars next year, now that is a snoozefest!

Neil was great .. it's a tough gig ..
his chin juts too much but he makes it work for him. I like his voice, always have. He produced the show too. I loved the concept of the "ancient credits" (you loved him as photographer #6 in Superman IV)…..but why didn't Burstyn and Fox get to accept their awards on camera?
He was ok - nothing special (but of course because he's gay Perez talks it up…).
PULEEEEEEEEEZ! This guy is SO mediocre! He's not funny, he's not entertaining, he's merely pleasant, and boringly so.
It was still hard to watch at time…. they spent to much time on show most of us have never heard of…. and all the Mini-Series time was a big bore….. it still needs fixed.
i looove NPH as the Emmy host. Especially the FAB opening number! On another note, he should have won an Emmy as Barney.
I was really HOPING that people would notice how GREAT the Emmy's were this year. I must say that this was the first Emmy's that I watched from BEGINNING to END (and all in between!) It was 100% watchable for 2 reasons…#1. Neil Patrick Harris was highly entertaining! LOVE him! And #2. I loved how they broke it down into categories (all comedy awards together, all drama together, all reality together, et all). It made MUCH more sense that way and just made things run more smoothly IMHO. Splitting into the 5 categories DID give it the direction it needed, therefore, making it run smoother and be more watchable. LOVED it. I WISH they would do the Golden Globes and The Oscars that way, too - (splitting into categories, that is). NPH was the BEST host in Award show HISTORY! I wish he was straight - if he was straight, he'd be MINE!!!
