Pirates 4 A Sinking Ship?

Though the movie is still in its pre-production stages, there could be some trouble ahead for getting the next Pirates of The Caribbean movie off the ground.
And that trouble's name is Johnny Depp.
Though he surprised a packed house at the Disney D23 expo last week in full Captain Jack Sparrow attire to promote the next film, the sudden departure of Disney chairman Dick Cook has the actor dismayed about the continuation of the project. This past weekend, he opened up to the LA Times about the move, saying that there is "a fissure, a crack in my enthusiasm at the moment."
Dick Cook was the reason Johnny had signed up for the Pirates projects from the beginning, and with him gone, and with new suits in place and the script only provisionally complete, Johnny's commitment to Pirates may falter out of loyalty to his friend.
No Johnny, no Jack, no movie.
Maybe that is a good thing.

Pretty shallow statement Barbara. I don't think Johnny would agree to a shitty script in the first place with or without Dick being involved.
they should have stopped at number two. maybe when orlando is getting whipped? that would have made me happy.

it matters to me. almost crushed me to think that the 3rd movie was the last. i hope he stays on. cuz this one will be focused mainly on him since Orlando and Keira didnt sign back on….i think.
Three movies was enough, more than enough, I love Johnny Depp but I don't see the reason for a 4th installment.

I love the movies and I would love to see more but I have to say I would not run out and see a Pirates without Johnny. I may wait until it was in the $5.00 bin at my local Walmart.
BTW, Perez Tour sank the day it opened and at every other venue it played.
No no no no no more pirates movies! They're just in it for the money. The last pirates movie ended PERFECTLY. A prequel I would be alright with.. but I'm still pissed they're considering continuing the story.

I don't think he will go ahead with something he does not have complete confidence in therefore if the project continues I will look forward to seeing it. Johnny is an amazing artist.
The, ah, "ship" sailed on this one long ago. No clue how the 2nd movie made money and warranted and 3rd equally dull and pointless sequel. The first one was terrific. Can't a single terrific movie just be in and of itself?? Did Garland play Dorothy in three sequels??

they shouldn't make another movie. the first and ssecond one were good, but they tried way too hard on the third and the fourth will most likely be even worse.
This would be horrible! I love Johnny Depp, he is such an amazing actor. Pirates would be nothing without him! I was so excited to hear that a 4th installment of the Pirates series was coming out. I almost cried when they first said the 3rd one was it. Come on Johnny, do this movie!

There shouldn't be any more of those movies. The third ended fine, and I wouldn't want it to be that there would be a fourth one and it would suck so much that I wouldn't want to watch the other three again.
Same with the Spider-Man movies. Although even if there's a 4th Spidey, what's the point in watching it if there's no James Franco?

The first was great.
The second, I got thru 45 minutes then turned it off.
The third I didn't bother with.
The fourth, I could care less.

I”m not sure how I'd feel about another pirate movie. The last two were just kind of there. But, Johnny Depp really can make anything shine.

I love Johnny and I love his role but seriously I don't see the need to continue with "'miss swan" I can't stand her in the whole movie so unless they're killing her the movie doesn't serve a purpose

I absolutely love, love, L O V E 'Pirates'. My favourite set of movies of ALL-TIME. But from a fan`s point of view, as much as I want more Sparrow adventures, I say no more. Only reason in because I don`t want to see the disappointment on Johnny`s face when it doesn`t do so well. Nevertheless, I wouldn`t mind another one

I doubt the fourth installment of the series will be any good. What else is there to do with this story? You shouldn't make a fourth movie just because people want to see Jack Sparrow. Unless Johnny Depp decided to appear in the movie nude, How can you enjoy Jack Sparrow in a movie that stinks?
