On Thursday, two of the world's most recognizable faces will come together in NYC for a good cause!
At the Clinton Global Initiative's annual meeting, Brad Pitt will be a guest speaker in a lecture discussing the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, titled Building A Better Future.
The seminar will offer a progress report on the status of New Orleans after being riddled by a natural disaster, plagued by poverty and failed public infrastructure investments.
Bill Clinton's organization paired with Pitt's Make it Right Foundation aims to improve the city through the construction of affordable green housing and sustainable cities in a hopeful partnership with the government, private sector and non-profits.

Why does nobody care about the mississippi gulf coast?
I WOULD be delighted to attend this lovely event. However, I am still stuck in Guelph living on $572 per month; for all living expenses, for me and my cat combined….. Ah yes, and some of my teeth are rotting out of my head because I have been a poor working girl my whole life. And I still don't have any identification?? And my support cheque hasn't arrived yet, from anyone..

How much longer are going to spend time and money on New Orleans / Katrina aftermath. You know as well as I do too much money was Skimed / Embezzled and people should be going to jail. The place is like the bottom of a Septic Tank.

I have been on many recovery trips to New Orleans, and the work is not even HALF way done. There are many people who have paid contractors to finish their houses, only to be ripped off or have poor work done. There are many others who would like to come home, but simply can't afford to rebuild. Instead of complaining about the corruption and the conditions of the city, how about you do something about it? I may not be a professional contractor, but I have learned how to drywall, paint, and just listen to those who were affected.

you know what this is so typicaly!!!! when people talk about katrina they automatically think of new orleans! what the fuck about mississippi!!!!!!!! that's right I said MISSISSIPPI! i guess we don't get any attention cuz we don't sit down on our asses and whine about everything and say "o poor me"! i went to the gulf coast a 2 weeks ago for the first time since katrina…….and let me tell you there ain't half the shit there that use to be! a bunch of abandoned buildings and vacant blocks! I'M SICK OF HEARING ABOUT DAMN NEW ORLEANS!

I live in Houston and there was plenty of damage from many hurricanes here. But I'm sure you never hear about that because it's Bush's home state… Just like you never hear about Mississippi, Alabama and Florida, they must be vacation spots for a high-ranking conservative, huh? New Orleans was always known for it's corruption… you can rebuild it GREEN with all the tralala's but wait and see it after say 5-10 years. It's going to be a run down dump. People don't give a crap… they don't work and they don't try to better themselves. You think giving them new pretty houses is going to change anything? Naw! People New Orleans was not devastated because of Katrina. The levee's broke after Katrina passed over New Orleans. But there is noting left on the mississippi gulf coast, the town of Waveland, ms was completely wiped of the map. People of mississippi didn't cry out for the goverment, people helped each other and we are still doing that till this day!!!!!!!
