Jude Law Is Coming To Your Cell Phone
Jude Law's new low-budget film, Rage, is being released in London next week and writer/director Sally Potter is trying out some "multi-platform" technology.
Rage will be released in theaters in London next week, but it will also be available for download on mobile phones.
Well, this is new. Potter says of the straight-to-mobile release:
"We don't know how this is going to work, especially since it is the first ever feature on cellphones. We're making it up as we go along and taking the plunge and the risk. There's so much terror in the film industry at the moment about piracy…and the only way I found of dealing with that is to say, 'Here, have it.' "
Viewers can even text in questions about the film. It's pretty innovative, but we're not sure how much we'd like watching a movie on such a small screen.
We're admittedly more excited to see hunky Jude Law in drag who was chosen for the role because "he has been accused, so to speak, of being too beautiful."

Very interesting….I, for one, have long been hoping for some changes in the way movies are released. I always wished they'd allow "On Demand" rentals (naturally for the same price as movie tickets) through the TV of newly released films. I'd see more films more often if that were the case, as I simply don't enjoy going to a theatre to watch films and would rather relax at home.
Sounds like a super neat idear!
