Barbie Hits The Big Screen!

Universal Pictures now has a movie star that never ages - the one and only, Barbie!

The studio has partnered with Mattel to make a family-friendly live action film around the iconic doll!

And it's got a built-in audience!

Barbie is the #1 girl's toy in the industry and totes 99% worldwide brand awareness!

“Barbie is the most famous doll in history, a unique cultural icon in the world of brands,” said Universal chairman Marc Shmuger. “So many representations of Barbie frequent pop culture, but never before has she been brought to life in a motion picture. We’re grateful to Mattel for entrusting us with this extraordinary opportunity.”

How do you even cast that role?

El Lay is full of skanky look-a-likes, but this is supposed to be fun for the whole family!

“Barbie may be the most popular girl in the world, and has always been a wonderfully aspirational figure, so we must do her proud,” continued Mark of the project.

You can't cast Barbie!
I loved her when I was a kid, I had everything you could get.
But, I wanted Barbie as a Barbie. Can't have her as a person surely? not if she'll more than likely be cast as someone who will have a DUI in probably 5 months.

Perez, I love you, but Barbie is not "a wonderfully aspiration figure." She teaches girls from a very young age that to be successful you have you be white, tall, thin, blonde and good at every thing. It teaches girls to be materialistic and superficial. The only positive thing is that Ken doesn't come in the same box. Besides, there have been a million cartoon Barbie movies which all went straight to DVD! Little girls have moved on to Bratz (which are far worse) and Miley Cyrus (the worst of all) so Universal is probably looking at a bomb… especially if they cast someone who sucks (which is inevitable)

I find this all just absolutely hilarious. Firstly, Barbie in a girl's action movie? In what, her six inch heels and her perfectly manicured nails and primped hair in danger of getting mussed? And secondly, it has statistically been proven that she has one of the most disproportionate bodies ever - if she were real, her chest size would be far too large for her stick thin body to support so she'd be falling flat on her face all the time.

That being said though, I would totally pay to watch her hit the ground face-first repeatedly.
