Drew Opens Up About Relationship With Estranged Mom

wenn5353453db.jpg

Well here's something she rarely talks about!

Drew Barrymore is speaking out about the issues she has with her estranged mother, Jaid.

Says the actress:

"I am okay with my dad, but my mom and I have yet to work it out. I don't talk about it because…how do you talk about something you're confused about?"

Drew famously had a tumultuous hard-pAArtying childhood including clubbing, alcohol, drugs and eventually rehab from a very young age.

But as we've seen, Drew has seemingly risen above her troubled past and has made an impressive Hollywood career for herself, recently starring in HBO's Grey Gardens and making her directorial debut with Whip It out this week.

"I love my life. I really do," the actress says. "But there are moments I battle with it. Some days I want nothing more than a brilliant mask so I could look like someone else and go wander the streets and be free. I'm very peeved Halloween only comes once a year."

All right, Drew. We know all about the "woes" of being rich and famous, but let's be honest, you have it pretty good!

Gee, another cut and paste stolen from "PEOPLE's" website. Again, please hire some interns to go out to the clubs and get gossip. Otherwise, just link to PEOPLE and E_NEWS's website rather than bothering to post here and pretend that they are yours.

Oh no, did you shot up smack and scissor with mommy? Oprah's dying to know!

  3. 3

Her hair color or whatever that is, looks hideous.

  4. 4

Her mother was a pathetic joke every time she was a guest on Howards Sterns show when it was on tv

  5. 5

i love her but honestly i don't like the black in her hair, and stop complaining… oooh being rich and famous is sooo hard…

  6. 6

Drew, I said the same thing to Bruse Willis when he lost his temper last week. You need to have a place to be a nobody for a week or two. Then, when you are bored, then go back to being famous. You can stay with my wife and I. Can you go out in public and not want to be noticed? If you have a good self control then come on down!

  7. 7

You're a fucking dick, no wonder so many people have stopped coming to your site.

Her mother was a disaster you asshole, she basically took her to all these clubs before she was a teen and LET a ten yr old get drunk and do shit most ten yr olds shoudn't. She messed up her freaking childhood.

No matter how much therapy or wealth a person has doesn't mean you don't carry some of that around with you inside. It does not mean that the pain doesn't keep you up some nights.

I wish you would go back to being a bit snarky and funny, not all out mean. How sad you've become as a gossip monger and a human being.

Seriously? She's Drew Barrymore. If I saw her on the street I would just shake my head and keep walking. Dumbass Rumour Willis is dating a boy at my brother's college Hampden Sydney in Virginia… and she showed up to the football game with a body guard! Everyone just laughed and said who is that ugly girl who looks like Bruce Willis? No one was interested!

Drew, this is what I said to Bruce W.: A lot of people think actors are always nice , but they are real people just like everybody else. And sometimes they loose thire temper. It must be hard to always be perfect all the time. Being famous can be a curse. It's actually better to be a no-one because you are free to do what you want and people don't pay much attention to you. well, maybe being a well off nobody might be better.

  10. 10

she never knew what's to be an anonymous person, so leave her alone.

  11. 11

Mothers have a huge influence on our lives, and many of us spent our adult lives dealing with the vengeance, abuse, hatred, indifference incurred to our identity. Money is not a factor, I'm sure.

I hope you have a mother that loved you, Mr. P. Imagine ur life without ur mother's love, it's somewhat damaging.

  12. 12

WTF'S up with her scraggly doo?!?!

  13. 13

I love Drew! I wonder what's up with a mother that can't be good to her own child! Drew was very young when this all happened! Just like Candy Spellings dumbass! Jealous of their daughters! Drew is especially wonderful, how could anyone hate her?

  14. 14

Did her Mom know John Phillips?

  15. 15

Debbie Harry called. She wants her hair back.

  16. 16

Drew, how can you ever escape from your " handlers"

  17. YUCK says – reply to this

    17

how come her mouth always has this odd crooked look to it.

  18. 18

She looks like a poodle with those black tips… =/

  19. 19

In all seriousness, it can't be too joyful to never be able to relax 100% in public. There are always stares, always a strange distance in real conversation with a stranger if they know who you are, cameras around, the scrutiny of something you do innocently, being reported as newsworthy. There is a price on fame, for sure. There are great perks–but also, but there is another side.

I saw Drew in LA once. She came through my drive thru back in the day. She was driving a totally regular beat up car, like a Nissan or something. She wasn't wearing any makeup and had sunglasses on. Considering she was one of my favorite people, she looked that absolutely normal and unrecognizable that I didn't recognize her at first. It was something in her voice that made me look again. I can honestly say she has it a lot better than several celebs in the sense that she can actually pass for an everyday person far easier than some of the others. She should work on accents and probably wouldn't be recognized much if she styled herself differently, she's very girl-next-doorish.

  21. 21

FUCK SHES UGLY!! I HATE HER HAIR ITS SOOOOO UGLY!! I HATE HER FACE!!

  22. 22

Barbara/Perez, you have no idea what Drew's life is like.
Not everyone is desperate to be seen, heard, and recognized 24 hours a day.

  23. 23

Barf!! She'll be the next one cryin' on Oprah!

  24. 24

Jeez pervez, you know nothing about the woes of the rich and famous. You know nothing of Hollywood history. You know nothing about the great Barrymores (Lionel, Ethel, the profile John) Drew's alcoholic father who failed on all fronts. She is triumphant and aside from her inherited talent, has brought herself up and out of self-destruction. She's a survivor. You on the other hand, are ugly, fat, and fail at everything you put your name on.

  25. 25

I couldn't concentrate on the story. I was too distracted by the skunk perching on her head.

  26. 26

" Some days I want nothing more than a brilliant mask so I could look like someone else and go wander the streets and be free. I'm very peeved Halloween only comes once a year."
well she could always go to Comic Con or something :P

  27. 27

    her hair!

oh thats out of the way.
i feel bad that celebs cant go out without being harassed but, youre rich, be happy.

ps. im going to need perez to stop copy and pasting from diff websites.

  28. 28

and she was famous as a child too, im suprised she didnt go crazed like mj.

  29. 29

No matter how rich and famous you are, if you don't feel your own parents were there for you, that is a scar that will take a long time to heal, fi it ever heals. Drew picked herself up at a very young age and made a mogul of herself. Shame on you for belittling her accomplishment in doing that. She is an inspiration for girls with the same troubles. Her mother should have been in jail years ago for what she did to her.

  30. 30

I love Drew. Such a strong woman.

  31. 31

she had a hard life rehab at 14 is enough to scar her and give her emotional problems on top of having a crappy mom she has overcome all that and is a great person everyone has skeletons

  32. 32

Drew Barrymore seems very sincere and earnest to me. I am going to spring for a ticket to see Whip It in all likelihood.

Of all the celebrities who are important to me, other than Fallon, I'd say I could trust Drew Barrymore more than any.

  33. 33

Her hair is soooo ugly!!! She needs to fire her stylist and hair stylist and get a better fashion sense!!
