Dancing with the Stars' hottie Karina Smirnoff is the latest celebrity to join PETA's seksi anti-fur campaign!
And she's a changed woman!
"I did wear fur, especially when I was growing up in the Ukraine," divulges the star. "But there are ways of being warm and being fashionable without being cruel."
Karina stopped wearing fur after witnessing footage of baby seals who were killed for their skins. Realizing how cruel it is "when we take advantage of an innocent animal that cannot defend herself," fur no longer became acceptable to her.

okay this actually bothers me. I don't think that people who live in countries where wearing fur is not essential should not wear it, but in countries like the Ukraine and my native Russia, fur is ESSENTIAL. It IS the cheaper route remarkably, and our ancestors have been wearing it SINCE THE BEGINNING of time to surivive. I thought a uki would have some more sense.

Welll….. at least she's naked and not promoting a hypocritical option such as "faux fur" or "pleather". While I do not support cruely of any kind, perhaps it is time for some focus on the origins of so called "ethical options".
Faux fur is a PETROLEUM based product. So all of those images we see of animals dying horrible deaths due to oil spills…. yup…. faux fur, pleather, gortex… not to mention the environmental damage (thus animals being killed ) due to the processing of petroleum. To top it all off these products are not bio-degradable!!
The most ethical choice would be vintage fur….. next to that would be skin and or fur from an animal that was already killed for consumption. Is it a better idea to throw the hide/fur away? Our native people honour the spirit of animals therefor let nothing go to waste.
Next…. research the cotton industry…. one of the most toxic crops on the planet!!
