One Day At A Time Star Mackenzie Phillips Reveals Incestuous Relationship With Rocker Father on OprahFiled under: Drugs
With Mackenzie Phillips' new memoir, High On Arrival, out today, the former child actress of One Day At A Time dropped another bombshell on Oprah, airing later today, saying that she and her father, John Phillips of the Mamas and the Papas, once had a sexual relationship. Ick! Mackenzie remembers the first time she found her father in bed with her, the night before her wedding to Jeff Sessler in 1979. Mackenzie was 19 years old.
After being fired from One Day At A Time in 1980 for her drug abuse, she went to rehab with her father and subsequently went on tour with him - at which point their sexual relationship became consensual!

This was reported on an entertainment show IE last night. I was shocked and disgusted. I would like to see the clip when she makes the allegation because Oprah is such the psychologist when she interviews.
I seen another comment on another blog regarding this post about the whole act being very "criminal". She wasnt a child, she was 19, a grown ass woman. So it was an insestuous relationship, drugz or no drugz and she also said her father wanted the two of them to runaway to Fiji where that "shit" could be legal. Hell yeah, she was fully aware of the situation, high or not.

She probably felt the need to come clean. Lots of people are suffering in silence from sexual abuse from family members. You must remember this was all happening in a haze of drugs and behind a wall of celebrity, making it worse, because, of course, as evidence from previous posts, she's being blamed for what happened and vilified for speaking out. John Phillips was a beloved musician, but that doesn't mean he wasn't capable of abuse. He was human. Maybe someone abused him too. How do you end the cycle of abuse? You confront it. You deal with it, and stop yourself from abusing others.

If this story isn't true and she lied then she is a very serious addict that is possibly insane who creates stories for people to pity and console her (consistant with drug addicts). Im surprised Oprah had her on the show considering her father is dead and cannot defend himself and she is a former drug addict that has a very questionable past. My opinoin if it is all true she is just as insane as her father due to the fact she admitted that she continued to have consentual sex with him.

I saw the Mamas and the Papas perform probably around 86 and Mackenzie was singing in the band. I remember being surprised that she looked really hot (and could actually sing.) This horrible man took advantage of a vulnerable person who had always wanted her father's love. This is the same father that got her hooked on heroin when she was eleven.
