Mackenzie's Other Stepmother, Michelle Phillips, Speaks Out Too!
After Mackenzie Phillips' shocking accusations regarding a 10-year long incestuous affair with her father, stepmom Michelle Phillips, is speaking out to dismiss her claims!
The ex-wife of the late John Phillips claims that Mackenzie told everyone in their extended family about their sexual relationship in 1997, but claimed she was joking.
Michelle states, “She told me, then she called me back and said, ‘You know I’m joking,’ I said it wasn’t funny. Mackenzie said, ‘I guess we have different senses of humor.’”
WTF?!
In her book, Mackenzie writes, “My father abused me but he wasn’t a monster. He was a tortured man who led a tortured existence.” She claims that she waited until now to come out with it because she didn’t want to wreck his legacy.
And Michelle is pissed!
Her response:
“She’s really protecting his legacy now, isn’t she?”
“John was a bad parent, and a drug addict. But [expletive deleted] his daughter? If she thinks it’s true, why isn’t she with a good psychiatrist on a couch? I think it’s unconscionable that Oprah would let her do her show. I have every reason to believe it’s untrue. Oprah should be more judicious about who she has on her show.”
"Mackenzie has a lot of mental illness. She’s had a needle stuck up her arm for 35 years. She was arrested for heroin and coke just recently. She did ‘Celebrity Rehab’ and now she writes a book. The whole thing is timed.”
“Mackenzie is jealous of her siblings, who have accomplished a lot and did not become drug addicts.”
It looks like someone is taking the stereotypical, evil stepmother role pretty seriously!
This is such a terrible, gut-wrenching confession that we can't imagine doing it for attention! If it was not true, she would need more help than we can fathom.

I saw the interview on Oprah and I'm still puzzled if the whole story is true to begin with. Either way she sold her story and with that the very little family she has left. I know she mentioned on the show that she had sex with her father once but then had a sexual relationship with him for ten years??? WTF?! She claims to be over drugs but the whole thing is just bizarre. I don't know who to believe.

It makes me sad to see the insensitivity in people. My father did this to me too and of course he denied it. What else would he do? It's not something to be proud of. I believe Mackenzie, I watched Oprah today. Oprah has dealt with the same thing, that's probably why she had her on the show (reference to Michell's comment) , she could relate! I don't think MacKenzie would lie about something so horrible, that's clearly why she's a drug addict. So sad, I hope this helps her and others out there!

Well I watched Oprah and she didn’t look like she was lying. I think her family needs to be there for her and try to figure out what the truth is. If she is telling the truth then they need to be there for her and help her heal. If they find out that it is not true then they still need to be by her side and get her some help.

For Mackenzie Phillips to call Michelle Phillips back and say it was "joke" reminded me of the story of how Lee Bowery confessed to his friends that he had AIDS, and then told everyone he was joking when people started freaking out and sobbing. Sometimes, the reaction to the truth is too awful to bear, so it gets played off like a joke.
For me, it's a no brainer. A NORMAL person wouldn't shoot drugs up his kids veins, would not offer his kids drugs at 11, would not teach his kids how to roll joints at 10! This MONSTER was not a father!
No one denied the drug allegations, which leads me to believe he IS a monster, and therefore, is capable of having that kind of relationship with his own daughter.
If you look up on youtube, you will see his son's reaction to the allegations. He says he wasn't around to say whether it's true or not. But he's another heroin addict in recovery. For me, that's another sign that what Mackenzie said is probably true.

The fact that the other children did not have the problems that Mac suffered leads me to give credence to her story. He divorced her mother when Mac was young, and he may have not bonded with her. Therefore, he could objectify her and do unconscionable things to her. The shame which children experience from sexual abuse is shame that most people who have not experienced it, cannot imagine. She tried to tell tell someone whom she apparently thought she could trust with the info 10 years ago, but recanted. And then, a decade later came clean officially. Behavior that abused individuals use. The info is so volcanic, so revolting that the victims don't think they will be believed. The victims also don't believe that they are worthy of sympathy. I think that she's telling the real truth finally.
I hope coming out with this will help her finally heal and help others as well.
