Twilight's Author Gets Another Movie Made

Stephenie Meyer has written other things besides the Twilight Saga. Well, actually, only one other thing, and it sure didn't take long for someone to swoop in and snag the movie rights to it.

Stephenie's adult novel, The Host, was picked up by producers Nick Wechsler, Steve and Paula Mae Schwartz and will be written/ directed by The Truman Show screenwriter Andrew Niccol.

The Host is described as:

"…a love story set in the near future on Earth, which has been assimilated by an alien species that call themselves “Souls.” They are benevolent parasites that subsume the conscious of humans and take possession of their bodies. One such soul, The Wanderer (so named because she has wandered among so many different worlds) is fused with a dying human named Melanie Stryder, in an attempt to locate the last pocket of surviving humans on Earth. The Wanderer cannot subsume the forceful Melanie, and they battle for the girl’s memories and her spirit."

That sounds a little freakier than Twilight to us. We don't know if we're down for that.

      I tried reading that book and I just couldn't get into it. Hopefully, it will make more sense as a movie.

      The Host was an awesome book. It sounded weird to me too, but i gave it a shot on a rainy day and it was amazing. I will SO be at that movie.

      Compared to Twilight, which I read and finished for the sake of conclusion, The Host was amazing. The tory line is incredibly original and very well done. We'll see what the movie comes out as…

      The book was great. She is a terrific author. Hopefully, The Host will be a better movie than Twilight. The strong emotions of her books don't translate well into movies. Or it could be the actors…

      The Host was….interesting. However most of the time I had NO idea what was going on. I think I liked it though….. Hopefully the movie will put it in better perspective, but Twilight will always be her strongest

      It took me almost 250 pages to get interested into this book, after that i couldn't out it down, this book is almost as good as the whole Twilight saga, i'm not trying to sounds like those crazy chicks on here, but it was seriously a fantastic book, i just hope they don't ruin the movie!

      Okay–sounds strange but the book is actually fantastic and I am VERY excited that there will be a movie! A friend of mine loaned it to me, and I was skeptical when I read the jacket but it was a great read and a great love story.

      I want to read to "The Host" but am hoping it will be better than the 4 Twilights.
      The Twilight series was compelling in most spots, I liked them okay, but all 4 books were full of gaping holes in the plotlines, generally cheesy, and at times, almost laughable.
      Oh well, my opinion doesn't matter because Stephanie Meyer is the one who's laughing .. all the way to the bank!

      The Host was a pretty good book. I agree with the person that said she is a good author if you're a simpleton. She writes enjoyable and entertaining stories but it really doesn't take a lot of thought, nor does it engage the mind. As for the people that 'didn't know what was going on' in the host….are you kidding? Is your reading level that of a second grader?

      The Host is different from the Twilight series. People, who don't like Twilight, should defininenly give it a go! It's a a very good book, believe me. It kinda sounds retarded, but once you have read it, your opinion of the book will be entirely different.

      It took me longer to get into it, but I liked the whole concept of souls. I'd like to see how they try to get the two different personalities of Wanda and Melanie.

      YES, YES, YES. I hope they follow the book closely when they make this movie. The story is great - has everything, romance, thrilling adventure, science fiction, fantasy. I and everyone I know who has read it, absolutely loved this book. My 21 year old son and 23 year old daughter who both ridicule the Twilight series, enjoyed the Host immensely. Much, much better written than the Twilight books.

      i read The Host right after reading the twilight series, and was blown away…the host was fantastic….a great great book….hits you from all angles….its action/hostage/romance/love triangle all in one…it's sort of like invasion of the body snatchers, but much better….it stars sort of at the end, when you think the war is over, and no way humans can win….and then shows a bright spark of hope.
