Poppa Pitt Honored For "Making It Right"

While attending the Clinton Global Initiative Thursday, Poppa Brad Pitt was honored by the US Green Building Council for all he's done with his Make It Right foundation to rebuild New Orleans.
Poppa Pitt hopes that his sustainable housing project will pave the way for more people to consider an eco-friendly building solutions. “We can no longer tell ourselves that implementing this technology is too complex a problem because it’s just been proven on this little spot on the map.”
Out of the 150 homes planned, so far only 13 have been built, but residents are already seeing the benefits with the average electricity bill being only $35.
Next up for the Future Design Fellow?
Brad's foundation is already working on the next stage of the project which will include eco-friendly duplex designs.
He may still have that awful beard, but we're willing to deal with it for a little while longer because of all the good work he does!

A human being is trying to better a situation some of the bloggers on this site seem bored by. He's lending his celebrity to a noble cause and regardless of his motives they're at least involving people in need. But let's focus on facial hair and his romantic life.
I'm glad there is a post that intertwines social awareness with gossip though, however vapid it is.
Brad has become a remarkable human being after ditching that shallow sitcom actress. He is a better actor now, an active humanitarian, dedicated family man with 6 children. Congrats Brad, you deserve it!

I wish more celebs would use their huge earnings for more of this type of work. Him and Angelina are just amazing with the amount of charity work they do and the $$ they donate and whatnot. They set a great example for people who always like to say they will make a change and actually do it! Unlike most of Hollyweird.

Maybe you should not bother to read or remark on any stories about them if you are sooo bothered by them being humanitarians and helping those less fortunate out. Although what Brad's doing is absolutely wonderful, my only concern is that the houses he has built look nothing like New Orleans to me. New Orleans, and all of the area around Lake Pontchatrain have such amazing architecture which helps make New Orleans what it is and shows us where the city has been. The aesthetic feels off.

Brilliant reporting. I read that less than ten percent of the first stage housing has been built and plans are underway for a second phase. (Remind me again HOW LONG have the Katrina victims been waiting for homes?? THE GERBILS GOT HOUSING FIRST??!!) THAT is NOT good business sense. What is going on? And, I can't believe that having an average hydro bill of $35 is a selling feature, unless you tell me "what" average you mean. Is the house using hydro for heating, water heat, light, etc or is hydro exclusively used to power the extra-fancy super-dee-douperdee toaster oven and everything else is powered by some other energy source, other than hydro.
But, celebri-itis reigns and these idiots give Brad Pitt recognition for "I don't KNOW what" while the incredible efforts of many less "famous" peoples have actually ACCOMPLISHED in New Orleans go unrecognized. As an excellent example, I have seen the reports, with accompanying photographs, of the work of The Kingdom Hall peoples in re-building New Orleans.
There is a parable in the Christian bible about the widow who gave what very little she had. (There are similiar ones in the other faith books of the world, but we will use this example today.) She found favor in the eyes of Jesus. The man who skimmed off some of his earnings and tossed them into the pot for all to see did not.

What is wrong with you people? Instead of commenting on the good work he does all you can do is talk about his beard? Who cares!!
