Drew: "I'm Not Sober"!

Drew Barrymore isn't much of the wild child that most of us remember her being in her younger days. Some might think that a stint in rehab was the trick to straighten her out.
That would be incorrect.
In fact, she only had a 12 day stay at a rehab facility when she was younger. That's barely long enough to pass out the meds!
In a recent interview, Drew concedes that she is in no way sober (no shock there), but that she has found a way to live without causing anyone, including herself, any harm.
She says, "I'm not (sober) and I don't claim to be - quite the opposite. I've tried to find the balance. I hope it's balanced."
We hope that doesn't mean she has a drink in the morning, weed in the evening, and a crack pipe at supper time.
As long as she isn't getting into any trouble, we guess it's alright. She's not the same little teenager that was snorting coke in clubs. She's all grown up now!

By the way, who in the fuck are you to judge her or what she does? I didn't get from her statement that she is using everything out there. I got that she is admitting to drinking, but doing it responsibly. I also got from the statement that she is happy AND honest, unlike you, who is probably sleeping 9 hrs a night because you are so drugged out from the day before on Special K.
A lot of professionals smoke and party once in a while. Doesn't make them crazed addicts.
Balance really is all you need. I mean she's a huge success… who's going to be like oh you're a mess? I mean her friends and family should really have an intervention about her hair…

Sober could mean anything from a drink/puff a day to excessive abuse. She never looks or acts spaced out so I am guessing she still parties when she goes out but doesn't take that shit home with her.

I think she must be balanced…..she's got plenty of paps following her around and you never hear really crazy things about her (ex: Lohan). She seems like she's got her shit together and parties a little here and there like the rest of us.

It would be good for everyone to remember that Drew Barrymore has Bipolar Disorder and that more than 60% of people diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder have substance abuse problems. Focus on the illness, not the "morals", ask why she is not stable on her prescribed psychiatric meds instead of why she is abusing drugs. The same is true for Amy Winehouse, Robert Downey Junior, and others. FOCUS ON THE ILLNESS not the symptoms.

most people never drank when they were kids, think about it, kids cant handle drugs or alchohol. she grew up in an environment where she was encouraged to drink as a kid and she went overboard. she is an adult now so if she wants to have some adult beverages then let her. i never heard of her going crazy. i just want to say, i have know kids as young as 10 drinking beer and it does happen.

100% abstinence is not for everyone. A lot of cultures handle addiction via moderation.
I truly hope she knows what she is doing and that she can handle it. She has come so far - it would be tragic if she screwed it all up. Be careful, Drew.

In her book she stated that she was in 3 times & stayed at David & Jan Crosby's home also to get clean. It sure sounded like a least a 30 day stay in the book.
