Was Bijou Phillips Involved With Her Father Too????
Bijou Phillips came out with a harsh statement about her half-sister Mackenzie Phillips's supposed incestuous affair with their father, the late John Phillips of the Momma & The Poppas.
Bijou admitted that Mackenzie had told her about the affair, but that she doubted Mackenzie was telling the truth.
However, back in 2000, Bijou was singing a rather different tune, one that might implicate a camaraderie between the siblings not seen today.
Bijou was interviewed by Index Magazine about her Playboy cover, her failed attempts at being a serious actress, and her minor sucess with music.
The interviewer asks her about one song in particular, a song about her father:
"BRUCE: Tell me about the new song you wrote — the one you were singing in the car on the way back from lunch.
BIJOU: The one about my dad? It sort of speaks for itself. I've made this decision not to talk to the press about anything that's gone on in my life, but just to write music about it. They can interpret it themselves.
BRUCE: There seemed to be some improprieties going on. You're talking about stuff in your music that's pretty heavy. Has anyone articulated it for you in the press?
BIJOU: No one has the balls to do it.
BRUCE: I'll do it.
BIJOU: [laughs] It's blatantly obvious.
BRUCE: The refrain in your new song is: "He touched me wrong." How much more blatant can you get?
BIJOU: I really want his balls busted, but I also want to be able to say, "It's just a song."
BRUCE: It's not just a song.
BIJOU: It's just a song."
Is it just a song? Now that we all know Bijou was knowledgeable about Mackenzie's relationship with her father, perhaps this is a gesture to her?
Or worse, perhaps she is speaking from her own experience? Some people are unable to face up to the truth. Could it be that Bijou had the same affair with her father that Mackenzie did?
Or is it just a song?
A sad reality either way, to know that even if it was just a song, it was one still rooted in a truth for a member of her family.

Her reaction is classic of children who grew up with physical or mental abuse. Most family members even the spouse will DENY the allegations out of fear of being considered 'dirty' by society. Their is deep seated guilt that they didn't act to help stop the abuse. But it wasn't their fault. The abuser is the guilty one when children are involved. When another adult does know or suspect and doesn't question or stop what is going on then yes, they are guilty of not coming to the aid of a child.
I doubt any of this is a lie. It is just to extreme, and who the hell says this for FUN ?!

I come from the kind of place where everyone knows everyone's business, and by the time I got out of high school, I had heard of about 15 - 20 girls and boys who had been abused sexually by a family member. There were only about 1000 people in the town and it isn't a hick town. Some of them seemed to have gone along with it, like MacKenzie. Also like MacKenzie, they were all a little messed up. I don't know anyone who has dealt with something like this and come out OK. The sad thing is that most people in the town were awful towards the abused kids. They're all weird like MacKenzie, and people don't get why. My town was an ordinary town. I bet you would be surprised at how much this happens.

She basically said her parents treated them like animals and she had to raise herself. She was on her own at 14 and doing drugs. Her father expected her to make a living starting at that age. She has the word 'Daddy' tattooed on her ass and that's just gross.

That's the most horrible thing about abuse… Even after it ends, the victims don't usually manage to get it together. And then people don't want to help them or believe them because they're messed up.

But when I was younger, I wouldn't have because I would have been worried that no one would believe me and because the kids who did say something were ostracized. It would be horrible to say something and then have people say you're crazy, like people are saying about MacKenzie. Like you, I was lucky because I was able to get away from someone who tried something once. But I was able to get away because I had the confidence to and I knew that the person was doing something wrong. Abused kids often don't know how to stick up for themselves. The fact is that victims of abuse often are not perfect people! Maybe MacKenzie is making everything up, but she sure reminds me of a lot of people I know who have been abused.

Like I said before, I knew personally about 15 - 20 people who were abused as kids. Some of them told someone what was going on before they got out of high school. But about half waited for years. I have been out of high school for 13 years, and about half of the people I'm referring to only said something within the last 5 years or so. If you are surrounded by people who might think you're messed up or dirty or that you encouraged the abuser, that's what you do I guess. Like I said, you are so lucky that you don't get this stuff. I used to be a lot less tolerant too, but then I found out about what happened to my friends.

It has really shocked me how many. Maybe some of them aren't telling the truth, who knows. Whatever the case, I feel like I can spot them right away now, because they're all messed up. That's what it does to people. You can't use logic to try and figure out why a victim didn't do what you would have, because there might be all kinds of guilt and hurt that affect how they do things. Anyway, I'm depressed now so I'm going to read something happier.

If you read Bijoux's bio, you'll learn that she was taken away from both John and her mother, Genivive, when she was a child and placed in foster care for a while because both of them were drug addicts. In America, you have to have to be doing some serious things to warrant having your child taken away from you. And I'd imagine it's almost unheard of for the rich and famous to have that happen.

Again, as sick as it sounds, I think Mackenzie wanted to be "special" to her dad among all the women in his life…kind of like she felt she had to compete for his attention. This is normal childhood behaviour as first noticed by Freud. However, her dad should not have taken advantage of these childhood things of Mackenzie's and should have known better since he is the adult, but it seems like drugs so clouded his judgement that all this came about. So sad.
