Charlize Theron Reveals Her Neurosis!
Filed under: Charlize Theron > Megan Fox > Kristen Bell
Guess when you're that attractive, you need some sort of problem to pass the time!
Joining the ranks of fellow freaks Megan Fox and Kristen Bell, Charlize Theron admits she has severe neurotic tendencies!
And she's not kidding!
The Oscar winner divulged:
"I actually have a serious problem – obsessive-compulsive disorder. I don’t do counting or anything like that. I’m good with chaos, I just don’t like it when chaos is hidden. So I have a problem with cabinets being messy and people just shoving things in cabinets and closing the door. I will literally lie in bed and not be able to sleep because I’ll be like, 'I think I saw something in that cabinet that just shouldn’t be there.'"
Ya'll need to get medication a life!

she has an obsessive compulsive tendency, not ocd…
We should all be so lucky to have her problems.
Why would she need a life? She's got money!
Coming from someone that has suffered from OCD, I just want to tell you that you should really watch what you say. Telling someone that suffers from OCD that they need to "get a life" is rude, insensitive, and idiotic. It is quite similar to telling someone with depression to just "get over it".
wow, you've jumped from mocking ppls clothes to actually being a dbag and mocking people with legitimate mental problems…way to go P Hilton
hm….I think it kind of letting "us" know, 'oh, we are humns too' ….yeah, thanks, now I feel relieved
I am glad that celebs are speaking out on these less severe mental disorders. One in four adults will experience a mental illness at some point in their lives. Problem is our society is obsessed with NORMAL. Sorry people, no one is perfect. Bravo to anyone who is courageous enough to speak about these very common mental illnesses. We need to make these topics mundane so that we can stop ignorance and insensitivity. www.gaining-insight.com
One last thing. Perez is so two faced. He preaches about equal rights with gays/lesbians (which I agree with). But he is first to discriminate against ALL of those with mental illness. I can't wait to finish my documentary so that we can start to end the stigma against mental illness.
so…I'm a freak too then? nope I've fought my whole my life with this shit (not ocd, something else). not cool
and mario - you need to get a diet pill
Re: Luhzr –
Agreed. I have very mild ocd.
well now thats rude and down right low, mario. just as bad as telling someone with severe depression to get over it, or someone who has starved down to 60lb to eat a burger. oh my bad…. i guess the life of pain and hardship does not exist outside the gay community.
Wow, making fun of someone with OCD? You're an ASSHOLE. Seriously, this is a crippling, debilitating illness and she's probably making light of the symptoms for the press.
Seriously. ASSHOLE.
Oh Perez, could you be any further removed from humanity than you already are? You are the boil on society's ass. Everything you do is self serving, even your "be kind to one another" statements. You are only concerned with you.
you know, perez… you need to lay off a little on the whole mental disorders. i'm actually glad that these actresses are no longer embarrass to speak about these type of personal issues because many of us have them too. they do not seem like freaks to me in the least…
Thank you for your sensitive and insightful words about mental disorders.
Better yet, until you have a degree in a mental health field and can know what you're talking about, just shut the fuck up.
EVERYONE SHOULD E-MAIL PEREZ ON THIS MATTER
This is unacceptable. Fill his inbox. You wouldn't tell someone with cancer to 'get over it'. This is no different. How dare you preach messages of equality when you're so prejudiced and ignorant yourself? No-one talks about mental illnesses because bigots like you react like this when they do!
crazy bitch
id still tap that hard though
I'm actually kind of on Perez' side in this case. Well, not completely because the phrasing he used here is not very nice at all. I think the point he was possibly trying to make is that these stars are overemphasizing minor issues to look more interesting than they are. I cannot tell you how many people I know who say they have OCD because of some really minor thing that they need to be ordered. If I were to use the same logic I could say I myself have OCD, which is absolutely not true.
I don't know though. Rereading it Perez comes off very harsh. All I know is that celebrities have been known to overemphasize their trials and tribulations so that we don't look at them like they're living on easy street. But for someone whose life is very seriously affected by OCD or any other mental condition, it isn't fair to put these things out there and make it seem like less of a problem than it actually is.
Re: insight – Word. mario is a hypocrite. You would think that being part of a stigmatized group would make him a little more sensitive, but if he weren't such a dick bag, he wouldn't be running this site anyway.
Re: queenliz02 – LOL. How do you know how serious her problems are?
Perez the only person who needs to get a life is you, seriously! Every single person has some "Obsessive Compulsive Tendency", and that's just the way it is, it's nothing that you create it just happens. Myself, I have the counting problem, I count everything, floor tiles, steps, ceiling tiles, stripes on a wall paper etc. And you can't tell me that you don't have something that could be considered OCD. Perhaps celebrities are your ocd, I would say that is a HUGE possibility.
Re: queenliz02 –
I also sometimes wonder about people using mental illness as a way to appear interesting (like in Megan Fox's case). But look at it this way. Would you say the same thing about a celebrity who is commended for their bravery to come out and say they have cancer. People need to know that the incidence of any mental illness is SO incredibly high but we are ignorant to this fact since we are so consumed with appearing normal. I too struggle with OCD personality and it sometimes creates such anxiety that I can't enjoy simple things. We have become a society so quick to judge anyone who's behavior is out of order without thinking about why the behavior could be that way. I have a brother who has been in a state mental hospital since February and I hope no one ever has to experience what my family has been through. Please educate yourselves when it comes to mental illness or else you will be guided by the ignorance and fear which the media is so saturated with.
Re: mother shabubu – @ 20 - doesn't really sound like queenliz is agreeing w/ mario or even stating anything specifically about charlize - sounds like the point trying to be made is, celebrities emphasize their "problems" so the general public has some sympathy for them. let's face it, when celebrities complain about anything, the public has no pity for them and so they make their problems sound bigger then they are. I'm also in no way condoning mario's insincere and unintelligent remarks.
OCD or OCT is not a joke and is a product of our insane world that has put so much stress on us as human beings…. she's not crazy, she's reacting to the overload we put our bodies and minds through every single day. I think it's disgusting for anyone to make fun of someone who has an illness or disorder…. from you Perez, it's just expected. Get a life?… she has an amazing life and career… you on the other hand should get one, definitely.
im seriously offended by that comment you just said. i have ocd and that was not cool. unless your a doctor who knows what hes talking about keep your mouth shut.
Perez, people like you shove others with disorders or problems into closets, where they're forced to hide… making others with the same problem feel alone and damaged. For a celebrity to come forward and admit to a human imperfection is huge… and could help someone who feels alone with the same disorder. You, as a gay man, should know better…. if everyone had your attitude 20 years ago about gays you'd be in the closet yourself. Shame on you. Being different is not WRONG, being ignorant and rude is.
Perez, you may not have a mental illness and know what it is like everyday to live with. You have no idea what this woman is living with, and to be so insensitive is an insult to her, and to many people. I happen to be a big fan for you, I support your ideas, and beliefs 100%. But I am very disappointed about this post and about you.
OCD is no small thing; and telling people to "get a life" is disgusting. Think twice about your readers and followers, and take into consideration how you and your actions make you feel.
Old News Perez. Like always. She said this about 2 weeks ago on a late night show. If it's that late, don't post it.
Isn't everyone somewhat neurotic? Anyways, Prozac will fix that.
OCD is no joke, I've had it almost my entire life. I have to constantly struggle with my thoughts, and to control with my anxiety. and to do it without medication, its been a tough patch. But its possible. And it may seem easy, but its a lot harder than you think it is. You really don't know how it feels unless you have it. I can completely understand Charlize, I've been through the same thing.
I believe everyone has some form of a neurotic tendency. I have a really problem with clutter and mess and I even count but I count in my head and instead of the normal number of 3 I use 5. For me it started after my dad died. (I'm not Monk, but there are certain things that have to be a certain way for me to get any peace of mind.) I don't believe OCD is a bad thing it can be ruff and some people have it a lot worse than others, but one thing about individuals with OCD or Neurotic Tendencies is they are very clean organized people and to be honest I'd rather be around people who are that organized and a little neurotic. Each of us has a little OCD. I praise individuals who have the extreme version of OCD because the disorder can be very challenging. I think it is wonderful that these stars come out and tell their fans that they are not perfect, they too have difficulties the same as everyone else. Now that's a role model in my opinion.
Mario, you have officially outdone yourself. Your cruel and insensitive comments on OCD and any other mental illness are truly off the charts. You wouldn't recognize compassion or sensitivity if it came up behind you and bit you on the ass. Absolutely deplorable.
Good grief.
If "cabinet organization" is all that's wrong with Charlize, she's a very lucky woman.
Beauty, money, intelligence .. all that other stuff is WAY MINOR
Way to go Perez, please mock the neurotic. We all know that's much more of a life than starring in hugely successful films…
ha wow…
Freud would call this: fixation of the late anal stage
I'm not going to sit here and pretend I don't or am going to stop reading your site.
But to be truthful, your stories seldom if ever break news, the term gossip does not apply to press releases and such, and a recent inaccuracy was simply unforgivable.
If you get your kicks out of making fun of mental diseases/conditions, it just goes to show you are perhaps getting desperate and in the process cruel. You are better than this you know that.
what is she from?
Serious question folks: What's the difference between OCD and OCT?
you should seriously delete this piece is extremely offensive yes making fun of legitimate mental disorders is highlarious, no its not this is not something you ask for there something you are born with they are unpleasant and can be embarrassing and you saying shit like this just makes it worse your seriously fucked up and a a hot mess yourself
Clearly Perez you do not suffer from any mental illness or know anyone with mental illness or you would understand that you can't "just get a life" (i.e. just get over it). They may be famous, but they are humans first and foremost and I for one am glad that they aren't afraid to talk about their mental issues. As someone with anxiety/panic disorder and mild OCD I get where they're coming from and it can be a very painful experience.
you insensitive prick
Charlize is a bitch who wears too much make-up. She's South African, I don't have a clue where that FAKE American accent comes from. And she's forever portraying South Africa in a really false light, like saying South Africans don't celebrate Christmas and all South Africans carry a firearm around. Whatever! Of course she only knew people who carried guns because she's white trash and birds of a feather flock together! I wish this fake, dishonest biyatch could just shut up for once and stop lying about my beautiful country!!!
Perez, OCD is a serious illness and its very rude and ignorant to tell someone who suffers from it to "get a life". Sometimes you can be such a jerk.
I'm sure if your friend manly gaga had OCD you wouldn't be making fun of it.
Uh.. this is really old news, I saw her say this on a late night show like weeks ago. Keep up Perez. Or Perez's people, or whatever. If you expect people to keep comping to your site when you're a total asshole, at least make your info up to date. Laaame.
Why do people take these blogs so seriously? I read that and laughed… Isn't it obvious that she is making a joke? I am the same as her, and I laugh about it all the time. This may be neurotic behaviour but has she been clinically diagnosed as OCD??? I don't think so. Lighten up people!!
You know what PILL you need to take Mario??? CYANIDE…
You're telling someone to get a life because they have OCD and CAN'T HELP something beyond their control?Do you realize comments and ignorant mentalities like that are the reasons people with any kind of chemical disorder don't speak out about it?They feel like they have to suffer in silence, and sadly some of them take their own life as a result; because THEY ARE TOO ASHAMED OF GETTING HELP FOR SOMETHING THEY HAVE NO REASON WHATSOEVER TO BE ASHAMED OF,but because ignorant assholes stigmize it.You of all people should know what its like feeling different.Do you know whats its like to struggle with OCD?Its not as simple as "taking medication" or "getting a life."You act like people chose this. They DON'T.And take Medication?Trust Me,you don't want to get into a discussion about the medication with me.You've already opened your mouth and spewed forth your ignorance. Why your opinions hold weight with anyone in any form is beyond me.Your own bullshit obsession with carry prejean and everyone else that crosses your path in a negative/possitive way seems alittle obsessive and complusive. Why dont you get Meds and get a life as well instead of making ignorant comments like you do and living via celebrities misfortunes and downfalls?
Oh yea and Perez Hilton says Charlize Theron needs to get a life. While everyone else on the planet says Perez Hilton needs to STFU
…thank you.that is all.
I'm telling you, NO ONE is normal, there is no such thing. Everyone is fucking weird in some way. OCD is pretty common in a lot of ways, shapes and forms. My bf is obsessed with dust, all his furniture is black so that he can see it quickly and he'll bust out the damn duster ten times a day. It took me a while to get used to it, but it still manages to annoy the crap outta me sometimes!
Sure would be nice if he was that compulsive about cleaning the rest of the apartment….oh well!
not that weird…actually, all these "weird" neuroses you've been reporting on have made me like the person better
Wow, you discriminate against people with mental illnesses yet you pounce on anyone who discriminates against gays? You're such a pathetic little boy.
Re: queenliz02 – Oh please, just because people YOU know hype themselves up means nothing in this situation. Whether she is or she isn't it shouldn't be made fun of because people really have these problems. So Adam Lambert is going around saying he's gay, but he's actually not because he just wants attention? It's the same thing, you're such a moron.
Re: xLethalCocktailx – Well, thanks for that. I said in my comment that I don't really agree with the crude phrasing Perez uses here. And I'm not saying that she's faking it to get attention. So no, Adam Lambert pretending to be gay for attention is not the same thing. I absolutely do not think people with mental illness should be made fun of, which is why I have a problem with this, not because people who say they have mental illness are lying or something ridiculous like that. She may very well have her issues with cluttered cabinets. But for people who have to get serious help to deal with OCD and other like things, it seems a little inconsiderate to undermine that by possibly overemphasizing a not very serious problem and calling it OCD.
I am no expert here people, and I mean absolutely no disrespect to anyone who deals with problems, mental or physical, which affect them in a profound way.
Oh, like everyone doesn't have a lil' OCD about SOMETHING. Gimme a break. Now, I must get back to reading my copy of 'Born to Score' with my tweezers.
Re: queenliz02 – I have sufferd from OCD, and I myself had sufferd from a compulsion much like Chalize. Needless to say I spent countles hours cleaning, arranging, and checking to make sure everything was perfect. When i was unable to check, oh say when i was at work, or out of my home i would begin to double guess myself. I would grow anxious, and yet again i would spend countless time worring if everything was alright…my point is i could say i have a problem with "cluttered cabinets" and you would have never guessed i had that much of a problem with "cluttered cabinets". OCD can rang greatly with the compulstions that ppl suffer from, so don't just write off someone cuz theirs seem silly compaired to other when it can be just as much as a problem. Just cuz she is famous dosent make her disorder any less significant. In the end you are degrading her OCD, just the same as you felt she or other famous ppl were degrading ours. you have no idea what she has to deal with interms of this, so dont speak for her…
