"Yéle Haiti is a foundation started by Grammy-Award winning musician, producer, social entrepreneur and Haitian Goodwill Ambassador Wyclef Jean that is changing thousands of lives in this poor but optimistic nation. Through Yéle Haiti, Wyclef supports projects that are making a difference in education, health, environment and community development.
Mission
Our mission is to create small-scale, manageable and replicable projects to contribute to Haiti’s long-term progress. Each initiative is imbued with Wyclef’s passion, as Yéle Haiti’s founder. Whether utilizing local hip-hop musicians to deliver awareness messages in forgotten neighborhoods or bringing his famous friends to Haiti to support the movement, what Wyclef radiates is profound wishes for the country.
Each of Yéle’s projects is conceived to renew hope for Haitians to rebuild their nation. Yéle Haiti wants to project a new forward-thinking image that accurately reflects Haiti’s youthful population and their unique and irrepressible spirit, which is an integral part of their culture. We firmly believe that given a genuine opportunity to shape the future, Haiti’s youth will shock the world with their ability to take"

goodieeee
hey perez,
I hope you end up actually reading all comments posted on your website because I completely disagree with you posting this. I am Haitian and unfortunately I have been greatly deceived by Wycleff. He came to Haiti and we all had great hopes with this new foundation. Although he has received many contributions he has done nothing with them. If you'd like to create a little survey, you would find out that he has instead used this as a form of advertisement for himself. He contributes nothing to the country and buys companies there to promote his own wealth. We were all willing and excited to help him in this new project when he first arrived in Haiti, but he continually disappointed everyone. He is only there to gain more wealth and power. Eventually even wanting to run for president as he was as staunch supporter of changing the constitution. Please be more responsible with the charities you promote. Do a little research.
Thank you,
a concerned haitian
i am also haitian and i think its a good thing that you are drawing attention to a country that is livin in such circumstances…below poverty level if you will. i dont know about this yele project but i know me as well my family attemp to due our part to bring awareness. Thanx Bill Clinton for also fighting for the cause!
How embarrasing. Dissing on your own kind. What have YOU done for Haiti? I used to work for Yele, yeah it's not perfect but they do have programs that do help out. Yele may not save the entire country but Wyclef could have turn his back on Haiti. Haiti only offered him poverty thus the reason he had leave, but he chose to acknowledge it anyways. Again what you YOU done for Haiti. I'm completely turned off by your comment. You're a total Hater. Besides, you don't even know what you're talking about. He NEVER said he wanted to run for Prez, on the contrary he said he would never do such thing because he is an artist and only an artist. Don't call yourself Haitian, ur just a Hater.

HEart to HEart Foundation is a great charity helping Haitian children eat and learn.
This is a synopsis of what the organization is all about:
Heart to Heart is a registered charity that supports a church, school, and
orphanage in Guande Goave, a city about 50 km outside of Port Au Prince,
Haiti.
About 350 students attend the school from preschool to grade 6. About 90
students are orphans and live full time at the Heart to Heart compound.
Their goals include:
1) provide learning supplies for the students
2) provide four years of teacher development for Heart to Heart teachers
and for all teachers in the area
- the fourth year will be a trainer of trainers program so that
the Haitian teachers can teach the program
3) provide a library for the school
4) help with the development of a secondary school
5) help with providing a computer lab for the school
Re: haitianbella – Well well well. Haitian bella you are a prime example of the kind of people who contribute to Haiti's turmoil. This is a slave mentally, of pointing the fingers at others. Instead of a being a problem solver, you are being a problem finder. How is that helping anyone…or a Country.
I agree with Ekla, You should not call yourself Haitian, especially if you're going to make uninformed comments that can actually hurt Wyclef's credibility. This is defamation of character and very wrong. This man spending his time and good will to help a country that never offered him anything other than poverty. What have YOU done for the country?
Hi!
I personally believe that the influence of a high powered, willing, celebrity can truly make a difference in a country in need just like Haiti. Celebrities like Wyclef Jean, who is also a goodwill ambassador of the country itself, have the power of not only influencing people within their surroundings, but also the entire world itself.
Everyday, in the news, we see ad campaigns for various causes and charities. Yet when we see a famous artist that we idolize supporting them, we tend to have a stronger will to give than if it was just a simple ad for a non-profit organization.
The fact that Wyclef is offering his time and money to this worthwhile cause says a lot about him as a person. I'm sure he will raise a great deal of money and be successful in achieving all his charitable goals.
I sure hopes he continues on his generous journey…
Regards,
GM
I have an idea. Since Haiti is on an island then just give these moochers a stick, a piece of string and a paper clip to use for a hook, and tell them to go to the water and catch a fucking fish, and cook it over a fire. Or don't they know what fire is?
Rumor has it Wyclef just got involved with Amour Creole magazine (www.amourcreole.com), which donates proceeds to the Haitian charity Sove Ayiti. We'll see how his involvement helps, if it's as you all say, maybe nothing will happen.
