He's certainly more corporate than the olden days!
Bob Dylan made a surprise announcement that he would be releasing a Christmas album next month called Christmas In The Heart.
What's even more unbelievable is that there is a major corporate tie in to the album…from a bank!
Citibank will reward 13 million customers by making the album available for download a week before it goes on sale, October 13th.

anyway, yes times have changed. sucks. i really enjoy his music but do you think it would be worth it to see him live at this point? i'm still debating it..
I may be mistaken but are not all proceeds going to charity in perpetuity? Seems like a great way of heightening awareness of the plight of the homeless by getting the album out to as many people as possible.. Surely the point of any charitable exercise!!

Re: Rita8a – I saw him live On August 25th of last year and he was still very, very good. He didn't play his guitar and his vocals were a little rusty but it is an experience I'd never want to change.

all artist proceeds on this album are going to the FEEDING AMERICA and WFP charity. Dylan's donations will provide 500,000 meals to school children in the developing world during the holidays and 15,000 meals to homeless people. that's exactly the OPPOSITE of selling out.

All the royalties are going to charities - both in the US & worldwide. So this is a great opportunity to raise some funds for those who need it.

Dylan is donating all proceeds from this album to Feeding America, guaranteeing that more than four million meals will be provided to more than 1.4 million people in need in this country during the 2009 holiday season. Dylan has also committed all of his future U.S. royalties from this album to Feeding America in perpetuity and international proceeds will be donated likewise. This fashion-challenged blowtorch picks up on a corporate connection and immediately runs with it, without doing any substantial research.
