Jackson's Estate Sues Charitable Foundation

The estate of Michael Jackson has slapped the Heal the World Foundation with a big ol' lawsuit!

Well, duh!

According to the legal docs, Jackson's estate is suing the foundation for "improperly using trademarks and Web sites to create the impression they were approved by Jackson to solicit donations."

MJ used to run a charity called Heal the World, inspired by the song of the same name from Jackson's 1991 album, Dangerous. The charity, which began in 1992, had collapsed by 2002.

Attorney John Branca and music exec John McClain say the Heal the World Foundation have committed acts of "infringement and unfair competition… with the intent to cause confusion, mistake and to deceive."

It is kinda rough to be suing a charity, though. Just sayin'!

I feel like slappin' Ed Hardy w/ a big ol' lawsuit. (j/k) because I pay $75 bucks for a fragrance that lasts 20 min. tops. My melon/strawberry body spray, which smells the same, lasts longer. Lol!

Charitys might equal scams!!! Be very careful, a lot of those organizations are slot machines, very skilled in taking innocent people's money and only giving like 10% of that money to their supposed " people in need, research, etc". Sad, but, you better do it yourself and visit people who need it in orfanages, or maybe your own grandparents rotting in a nursing home somewhere. That's makes a real better worl, cause the initiative starts from you.

Heal the World was no longer a MJ charity after the collapse in 2002…the people doing it now are frauds. They aren't a charity MJ supported, they are just using the dead name of Heal the World. Read up yo.

Again with people suing over people that passed. What the **** is going on

Even after death people continue to use MJ. So sad… shame on this organization for deceiving people!

The people running that organization are scummy. I've dealt with the owner, Melissa Johnson, one on one. She bans fans from her site if they ask legitimate questions like "Where's the money going" and she has been buying up domain names and selling them for as much as $60,000. They deserved to get sued. I'm so glad this is finally happening.

he's done everything to make the world a better place

Jeez pervez, probably the opposite it true. Why would MJ's charity go bust and the new one succeed? Michael was scrambling to pay big bucks owed and set up orig. charity as a "scam- potential" thru lawyers. I believe their grubbing hands were slapped and the new charity would be allowed to continue under other directors. Now, all the rats are scurrying while their boat pulls a Titanic$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

well if they're using michael when they shouldn't then they deserved to be sued.

Just because they are a charity it does not give them the right to deceive people, they deserve to be sued!
