Lambert At The Top Of The Charts, Almost

Coming in second place on American Idol isn't so bad after all!
A.I. season 8 runner-up Adam Lambert's first album isn't due until November 24th, but it's already made its way to the number 2 spot on the Amazon.com sales list as of yesterday.
He's second on the list only to Barbra Streisand, who tops the chart with her new jazz album.
And the surprising part about Lambert's album is that it managed to jump to the top of the list on its own.
Lambert's record label, RCA, hadn't announced the album could be pre-oreded. But that didn't stop the Lambert fans from spreading the news.

It's really surprising to me he made it to #1, and so fast. The guy doesn't even have a single out yet to drive purchases. That's pretty cool.

Nope. Adam's talented and hilarious and a SWEETHEART but I think I'll wait until I HEAR his music before buying it. Don't get me wrong, even if I don't like his music, I'm still totally supporting him but I'm just saying just because you're talented does not mean you will make good music. The media has not heard one note from his album but they're using his name for hits y'know?
It's humanly impossible for anyone to live up to this hyperbole and I think it's crazy and unfair the way people and the media have hyped him up. I understand being excited but over-buzz not only kills careers and puts people off, it results in disappointment. Even Adam admitted this particular pressure has gotten to him a bit, he's human. Artists take a couple of years to debut an album but he's had a few weeks/months to come up with something WHILST being on tour. He's new to this yet people expect so much from him. I could not deal with the expectations and pressure AT ALL.
Anyway. Just like all music and everything else in the world, some will like his stuff, some won't. You can’t even please your fans all the time. All you can do is be true to yourself. I can see Adam evolving as he did on AI. He is musically creative, constantly evolving visually and his instincts are good. Plus, he listens to advice of people he respects. It’s longevity in the business that counts. Wish him, Allison and Kris all the best. Kris has Eg White writing with him, the dude who co wrote Chasing Pavements.

No, he doesn't need to lose 10-15 pounds. This is what a healthy human being actually looks like. Adam, hopefully you have a core of people around you whom you can trust to keep you believing in what made you stand out in the first place. #1: Your chops are off the mark. #2 Your humility is refreshing and endearing. # Trust your instincts. (I believe that they are spot on).

Record companies are freaking PRAYING that people buy more than one to stick in stockings. If Adam has a few hundred core fans that are determined to give them to their entire families, well that's more money in the bank. The only problem is whether the numbers can be sustained after the fans are done buying — and that will all depend on the music. I wouldn't bet against him, though.

what great news to wake up too! this guy is the one to watch in music. i know he's going to be the next michael jackson. Not in terms of dancing, but superstradom; the fans fainting, being praised by all musicians, making the big money like MJ e.t.c. Adam is extremely talented. not only a good voice, but a great PERFORMER. a singer that can sing amazing, but is boring on stage and has no stage presence will never be successful. a person with an average voice but amazing stage presence will sell (beyonce, britney, gaga, e.t.c. even though i'm not fan of gaga).
i want to hear some of his songs first and then i'll get the album! but that's amazing for him! his success has already begun.
