Mariah's New Album Debuts To Lackluster Sales, Outperformed By Paramore!

Music industry insiders tell us that Mariah Carey's new album, Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel, is expected to debut next week at #2 on the U.S. album charts - just behind Paramore, who will come in at the #1 spot with their latest offering, Brand New Eyes, which they released on the same day as Mims.
Early sales reports predict that Imperfect Angel will sell in the range of 160,000 - 170,000 copies while Paramore's album is expected to sell 180,000 - 190,000!
As for Madonna and her latest greatest hits album, Celebration, she's projected to sell a between 60,000 - 70,000 copies. And she's barely done any promo!
But back to Mimoo!
In comparison to the release of her last album, E=MC², which debuted with 463,000 copies sold in its first week, Mariah faces an almost 70 percent drop in sales!

Update: Insiders are telling us that it looks like Mariah is neck and neck with Barbra Streisand as both are in the 160,000 range, but projections are putting Mimi in third place at the end of this week.

1. I LOVE this CD! IT'S Absolutely FABULOUS!!!! EVERY SONG is amazing. My personal fav is "More than Just Friends". I LOOOOOVE this CD! It's the best since the Butterfly LP (in my opinion). 4.5 stars from me. (I would give 5, but I feel as though she could have included at least 1 or 2 more power ballads).

I think if you actually have followed Mariah throughout her entire career you will actually find this album interesting. Sure, it's not full of upbeat club bangers but she really has done a good job with this CD. It's a different sound for her but plays off her prior efforts. If you like R&B and some smooth pop you will like this. She vocally tones things down and does a lot of interesting things if you actually listen to the music. I honestly prepared myself to hate this album because I thought obsessed/i want to know what love is were weak. I think those singles don't do the album justice. H.A.T.E.U, Ribbon, Betcha Gon Know, Candy Bling, Standing O, are great R&B tracks. Her lyrics are a bit questionable but… I really think it's a new interesting approach for her. Take her or leave her. Give the CD a detailed listen.

You cannot be serious. What promotion has Ms. Carey been doing? Oprah? That's the only real promotion she's done. You can't even count her performance on "America's Got Talent" because that was so long ago & that was to promote the song Obsessed, not her album as a whole. Compare the promotion she did with this album with the promotion she did for her last album, E=MC2. For the latter she did MTV's TRL, Oprah, BET's 106 & Park, Good Morning America, MTV's The Hills, MTV2 52/52, BET's MC2: The Relativity of Mariah, SNL, American Idol etc.
She is scheduled to do the Today Show this Friday but so far that's it. There's no BET 106 & Park appearance, MTV appearance, network specials, award show performances, late night or daytime talk show performance like Conan O'Brian, The View, Ellen, Jimmy Kimmel etc.. These are all ways she promoted E=MC2 in some way or another whether it was for the first week or later down the line. So I ask again, what promotion has Ms. Carey been doing?

Madonna has a solid fanbase that has been well aware of and have been promoting her Greatest Hits CD for MONTHS. She just filmed two promos for the song "Celebration." She has a billboard up in TImes Square promoting the album, for chrissake. Perhaps you need to take a marketing class, since you're unaware of the concept of promotion.

Her own website streamed the album several weeks before the it was released. She performed on GMA the week the album was released (and sounded horrid, I may add), and taped a Oprah Winfrey special the same week. We get it..you hate Mariah Carey.
