Michelle Obama Lobbies For Chicago

With the First Lady behind the decision to bring the 2016 Summer Olympics to America, you know tons more people are going to get behind it as well.
While attending the summit of world leaders in Pittsburg last week, Michelle Obama clued in a few select reporters that she will be lobbying hard for Chicago to beat out contenders Rio de Janeiro, Tokyo and Madrid. With more than 100 members to persuade, the First Lady is ready to talk to whoever will listen.
She explained: "I'm talking to everybody. That's what my schedule looks like. I don't think there's one person left off."
Her passion for the event stems from her childhood fascination with the games as well as her hometown pride. At least she is doing something fairly interesting with her time in office!
We think if she joins forces with Oprah Winfrey, they might just be able to make it happen!

Chicago would be the worst place to host the olympics. As a resident of the city I know first hand that parking and public transportation would be a disaster. We can barely handle a cubs game let alone an entire world sports event. If Michelle Obama had any sense, she would reconsider her notions of bring the olympic games to Chicago.

why can't the Games go to a city that needs money, attention, commerce? Why does it have to be in the greedy United States? I'm pretty sure the U.S. has hosted a few Olympic Games already (ask some of those cities if they are glad).
Better yet, abolish the Games. They haven't been authentic for many many decades. It's all money and steroids and physicians who can hide steroids…and NIKE endorsements, and plastic, and paper, and metal, and waste.

I think Chicago would be a great place, since they have so much infrastructure built to support the World's Fair, and sports stadiums, etc. This could bring a TON of jobs to the area!

Have you ever been here? Like any major city, there is good and bad and you should be careful how you use that word. The President of the United States is presenting in Copenhagen on Friday and he would do it for any U.S. City that is bidding for the Olympics because that is who he is. This has been going on for 3 years now and I can assure you that sponsors are covering most of the bills, not the taxpayers!
I don't understand why people wouldn't want our economy to improve and by bringing the Olympics back to the U.S. (first in 20 years) that would help our economy in many ways not just in Chicago!
Lastly, for those of you haters on the Olympics, you are missing out on something special!

after seeing video of the 16 yr old honor student being killed by gangs while people hung out and watched, I'd say Chicago has bigger problems to worry about, and so does the freaking country. So, I'm still trying to figure out why the President himself has to go, at tax payers expense, only to benefit Chicago because if it was another us city he wouldn't give a damn. Oh, didn't you know? The Olympics in Chicago would be awful and detrimental to the state. It costs tens of millions of dollars to build venues that will no longer have a purpose afterwards.
I absolutely love my hometown Chicago but the only way to earn power in Illinois/Chicago politics is through corruption. Party affiliation doesn't matter. How many of our past governors are sitting in jail or about to go to jail? Too many. Chicago is for sure getting the Olympics. Don't want this to happen-let the Olympics go someplace else. Live in Southeastern Wisconsin. We would have Olympic events in our state also. It will cost way to much money to do this. Neither state can afford it. I guess if Chicago does get the Olympics-the gang-bangers could be bouncers and security. It would take them off the streets. The jobs that may come from this are NOT permanent jobs. They probably don't pay over minimum wage either. Go to some of these countries that have spent millions on the olympics and now all these venues they built are not being taken care of because they cannot afford it.
