Kate Gosselin isn't taking this one lying down. The mom of eight just released a biting statement in retaliation to Jon Gosselin's attempts to shut down Kate Plus Eight.
She says:
"I'm saddened and confused by Jon's public media statements. Jon has never expressed any concerns to me about our children being involved in the show and, in fact, is on the record as saying he believes the show benefits our children and was taping on Friday with the kids. I check in regularly with each of the kids to be sure they want to participate in and continue with the show and will continue to do so. I do the show for my family because I believe it provides us opportunities we wouldn't otherwise have. Jon used to share that belief until as recently as the day the network announced the name change of the show and indicated that Jon would have a lesser role in the show. It appears that Jon's priority is Jon and his interests. My priority remains our children and their well being."

For the time being, TLC has halted production of the show.
Kate's right, though! Jon never expressed that the kids didn't want to be on camera when he was featured on the show. In fact Jon was just recorded at the end of the summer saying that the kids LOVED filming the show.
Yet the day he gets the boot, all of a sudden he's all looking out for the kids' "best interests?"
We knew Kate wasn't going to take any of his BS!

Make up your mind Perez I thought you didn't think the show was good for the kids. Either way supposedly he complained months ago that his kids didn't like being on the show any longer. If that is true and is certainly possible considering they are not only getting older but are obviously going through a stressful time in their young lives then maybe it would be best to halt the show.
You know what, it is time for the show to end. Once the show is gone, all of this media attention will go away and those kids will finally get a chance at normalcy. There are EIGHT kids at risk of having really srewed up lives because of all of this mess. I don't think K is any better than J. She wants the money and fame just as much as he wants the women.

I'm just glad they suspended the show. Nobody ever answered the accusation that the children are not being compensated, and that the show did not get the required permits to work with children. This is the most important point because the kids are being exploited constantly, and the damage is already done. I'd accept whatever it takes to get those kids into a better situation, and if Jon does it because he feels he needs a bigger paycheck, who cares it still is getting across the point that the kids are being manipulated.

I'm not defending this guy by no means but remember a couple of months ago Jon said then he didn't want to do the show anymore. TLC made him and then when he rebutted TLC that is when they cut his involvement down on the show. Two months ago he was unhappy and I do beleive it took him hitting bottom to realize this wasn't good for his children. He saw what Kate didn't or couldn't see and he wants out and wants his kids out. Possibly he is being sincere about this. He doesn't seem to care about the show and hasn't for along time.
