Less than a week after tickets went on sale, Fandango reported it as their top-seller and MovieTickets.com claimed they had 550 viewings sell out already. Sony Pictures is even bragging about their big business around the globe!!
The two-week limited engagement works wonders for selling tickets! If you remember correctly, Miley Cyrus' Best of Both Worlds took in $31 million on opening weekend!
And it looks as though the King of Pop will be outpacing Miley by a three-to-one margin!

Agree with you! This is a win/lose situation. If it flops maybe Sony would quit releasing shit like this for profit. Michael didn't want to be associated with Sony anymore it's upsetting that they're still making so much money on him. It happened with Selena as well, the record label made so much money after her death and the movie was a big hit (hence, Jennifer Lopez became famous after that movie) I'm not comparing Selena to Michael Jackson, Selena was killed before she could crossover at age 23. But a dead Celebrity is a Gold Mine to the record labels, executives, and managers.

Sony has nothing to brag about. It's Michael Jackson. Further, if every film release were only for two weeks with no mention of a DVD release at a later date, then ticket sales would be through the roof for most films. I am disgusted by the greedy chase of dollars and exploitation of fans by AEG and Sony. We should be able to see this film and maintain our dignity at the same time. A stampede for tickets and fighting for seats at a theater near you is repulsive. Shame on Sony.

You know what makes this news sad is that his dang concert promoters could have had him do 02 for a one week engagement then put the tour onto the big screen and make a ton more money and take the stress off of Jackson, who knows if that would have helped relieve his stress or not, but it would have been a good idea.

I doubt it's gonna be bigger then New Moon they sold out tickets 2 months before the release. The MJ Movie is only going to be in theaters for 2 weeks of course it is going to have tons of attention. I could care less either way, all you fans that think you are supporting Michael Jackson how can that really be if the Man is already passed away? What would if matter if you saw it on opening night as opposed to 2 months later? It doesn't matter, You see how the Marketing Money Machine Works? If you enjoyed his music and made an impact on you then great, just don't turn it into some unhealthy fixation.
Got tickets for the entire family to see it. Can't wait!! I would watch this documentary/movie even if it will just be Michael Jackson staring at the camera "talking" about his ideas for the London concerts. The dancing and singing shown in the trailer are, in a way, bonuses! Being able to see the behind-the-scene of this creative genius at work is good enough for me.

Are you serious with that question? Michael would have loved for his fans and naysayers to see this wonderful production. Not only are we supporting him and his "This is It" teams creativity but we are also supporting the hard work that they put into this wonderful concert series that tragically never was. Another way were supporting Michael has to do with finances. Sony and AEG aren't the only one's who will profit off of the sales. Michael's estate will be receiving a good amount of the sales so though Michael is no longer here he is still making it possible for his children and family to be supported. It's a chain effect…. We ( this goes for the haters too b/c they will be purchasing tickets as well) support Michael by buying tickets, which then goes to his family, children, and not to mention the charities that he still wished to support. Michael will always have a support system when it comes to his fans. Doesn't Elvis's fans still support him??

Michael was a human being and that is exactly what he tried to convey to those who cared to pay attention to him. Not him the entertainer but him the man.. I did buy the book so I guess your bringing the Shmuley book up because of the other post that talks about the book where I said that I bought it, but I have yet to read much of it because I have been busy. I can tell you that one of the things that I think will be in the book that shows that Michael understood that he was a human being and wanted to be treated like you and me is when he walked around his neigborhood going up to strangers asking them to just talk to him and be his friend. He wanted to experience things that you and I experience but was rarely given that oppurtunity because he was looked at as this bigger then life person when all he wanted to be treated was like a "human being." Also you said "he couldn't stand her" are you referring to Madonna? I don't think Michael disliked Madonna, I just think he disliked her personality and felt like they were total opposites when it came to expressing themselves.

Madonna (especially back in the 80 and 90's) was very vocal, straight to the point, and she didn't hold anything back. Michael was more shy, not confrontational, and less intimidating. Michael was somewhat intimidating due to the fact that he was so famous. Madonna was also very famous but she was intimidating because you never knew if she would ignore you, send you away, curse you out, or ablige if you were to ask her for an autograph or something (she happened to send some kids away when they came up to her and Michael at a restaurant.) Michael said she would mellow out once she had children and she sure did.
