Golden Globe winner James Franco will join the cast of General Hospital.
No joke!

It is part of research for an upcoming film!
Is it a film about slowly deescalating your acting career?!
According to ABC Soaps in Depth, Franco will be working for two months on the show, while filming a week's worth of shows in one day. It is also rumored that fan favorite Brenda (Vanessa Marcil) may return specifically to work with him.
James' character is a mystery man visiting the town of Port Charles. The recurring role will air November 23rd.

I want Megan Ward back on contract if Vanessa returns. The only way Brenda should return this time around is, Kate Howard needs a new face for a major photo layout in Crimson, and anyone who is familiar with GH knows that Brenda Barrett is a model. Brenda is assigned the gig and ends back in Port Charles working with Kate Howard. I think both of them would work well together Kate and Brenda do not like Carly and both are ex's of Sonny Corinthos. We can still have a story involving Brenda and this character that James Franco will be portraying.
my grandma loves general hospital, she never misses an episode. i watch it with her sometimes, so i'll probably be seeing him.

he's a method actor - this isn't that weird - he lived on the streets for awhile too when researching for one of his older films. he has talked about it in interviews i think with GQ u can look it up.

This is cool actually. Why be a snob to the daytime forum that has helped many of a celeb crossover to bigger bucks? They may actually be trying to save a dying genre and help out with their famous faces. General Hospital is legit!

I love that soap! I think he has more of a chance of being a Cassadine. Perhaps Stefan's long lost son? He kind of looks like him…but I don't know how that would tie in with Brenda…

Yup. I found out this morning … I watch GH daily, so I definitely will watch JF when he's on.
There have been many rumours floating around about who he'll play … some say a long lost Cassadine … some say he will play someone from Sam McCall's (played by Kelly Monaco) past.
This is a good career move for him. Why? Soaps are so much different than movies and TV shows … you have to learn lines much faster and you have many scenes to do in one day. So, with that said, this might help him in the future.
General Hospital is my all time fave. I will definitely be watching. I love James Franco
Heck ya ill watch!!! This sounds so interesting. BTW the stuff about Vanessa Marcil may not pan out. She wasnt part of the plan….just wants to latch on so she can work with James. What the show is saying is that he will be involved in a storyline with Jason and Sam played by Steve Burton and Kelly Monaco.
I don't watch this particular soap, but if he brings more viewers to the genre, I'm all for it!

I'M SO FREAKING EXCITED ABOUT THIS!! I COULD PEE MY PANTS!! General Hospital is by far the best soap on air, and with this casting coo I hope the ratings will start to reflect that fact! This is just amazing. Perez don't hate on this, soaps are an endangered species and need someone like Franco to breathe life back into them.
