Anne Frank Captured On Film
Filed under: YouTubeThis is the only piece of film footage containing the legendary diarist Anne Frank in existence.
It was unearthed and given to her father in the 1950s from his neighbors. The video is very short and shows Anne leaning out the window of her Amsterdam home, watching a bride and groom on their big day. The clip has been kept at the Amsterdam museum, the Anne Frank House , but was released on YouTube in honor of the new Anne Frank Channel, which will feature videos and interviews about her life.
These images were captured only a year before Anne and her family were forced into hiding.
It's eerie and moving all the same time.

Thats amazing. Her story is heartbreaking… and its horrible she lived such a sad, short, discriminated life.
it is weird how everyone is going about their business - it doesnt look that long ago - the outfits etc you could imagine being there. If it was in colour it would look like yesterday - and would show us how close we are to the horrific events that unfolded for poor Anne and her family - we are never too far away from pain and suffering. Cherish your family and loved ones - I nearly lost my mum last week - life v short - try and make your life meaningful and love and help people as much as possible xxx

Old, Old news. This video has been shown on TV multiple times. It is only its placement on youtube that is new. Do your research. It should be noted that anything that reminds people of the Shoah is valuable and anyone who does it is performing a sort of mitzvah.

I had to go see Auschwitz in Poland when I was there … something I had to see for myself, in a strange morbid kind of way. Blew me away.
Too bad the Poles are still in that Nazi headspace … the grafitti on the buses, walls, all over the place … it's as if it's still going on.

This is quite something. You just see her kind of looking around and it's kind of…chilling for us to see because we know what's going to happen and she doesn't.
I will admit to completely hating having to read her diary because it was filled with teenage stuff, but her story is one that I'll always remember.
It's not Eerie…it's beautiful, amazing and historic. THIS IS THE BEST THING YOU HAVE EVER PUT ON YOUR SITE, Perez. This was first released in the documentary Anne Frank Remembered. I was first reading the book when is came out. I remember renting and watching it and being completly overwhelmed.

I saw the house/attic in 1974 and it changed my life … there was nothing inside back then except the top room was filled with floor to ceiling photos of camp victims … cherish every moment in life and never forget what these people endured

I saw this on the news this morning and it's awesome it was just released onto Youtube. Very haunting to see. I find it really sad that she died two weeks before they were liberated at that camp. If only she could have held on a little longer.

The best post I've every viewed on this site is this one! It is so sad what she and so many others had to go through because of hatred. I hate war. Nothing is more sad than to watch the news and learn of our young men getting killed in our military. However, there are times when war is necessary. Hitler had to be stopped - that is why we went to war. Slavery had to be stopped - that is why we had a Civil War. I hear so many people saying war is not necessary - well, at times it is. As horrible as it is - at times it is necessary. This poor girl - she had her entire life to live. So sad. Really, really sad.

whatever you think about perez, this episode of human monstrousness happened within the last century. WW2 was a sickening episode in humaity's existence and we are lucky that there were people like anne frank so we never forget the sick lows that man can sink to. never forget and always respect.
Amazing! I makes you realize that she was more than just a girl in a story. She was real and sufferd so much in her short life. So much promise lost.

Even if one person didn't know about this clip and got to see it, that is reason enough to quit acting like Perez said he was introducing Anne Frank to the world! One of my big regrets in life is that when I was 17 and got to go to Amsterdam I let myself be talked out of going to see the "Secret Annexe" because it was supposedly a huge tourist trap.
