Angelina Jolie traveled to Syria as a Goodwill Ambassador for the UN Refugee Agency with Brad Pitt to raise awareness of the Iraqi refugees residing there.

They visited two refugee families in one of the poorest suburbs of capital city Damascus as well as meeting with President Bashar al-Assad and his wife Asma. Angie says:

"Most Iraqi refugees cannot return to Iraq in view of the severe trauma they experienced there, the uncertainty linked to the coming Iraqi elections, the security issues and the lack of basic services. They will, therefore, be in need of continued support from the international community."

Syria is making great strides in making sure health care and education is available to the refugees.

i am amazed that Angelina and Brad just keep going to all these places that need help - it is admirable but there are so many people and so many places with endless suffering - it is incredibly unselfish of them and must seem overwhelming at times - there are so many people with millions who don't do anything to help even one person - so i say "blessings to them"

Thank you for this, Perez. You can see in past photos the pain in her eyes. I don't believe this is for the media at all, just a lady who feels deeply. Whatever the case, she is doing so much more than most other celebs are. Well done, Ange. Two different worlds, from multi million dollar movie sets and stuffed bank accounts to the depths of human survival. Thank you, Ange, for opening our eyes.

Look at the www.dallasblog.com to learn that Angelina is involved in a corrupt organization at the UN.

what's with the hate? if only more celebrities were like this … all they're doing is raising awareness about other countries, and people, who need our help. and for those who are complaining that they've left their kids at hohey have a photographer with them, well i'm sure a couple of days won't harm them, it's not as if they have an only child that would get lonely … and what other way would they show people like us-who may not have an opportunity to see how other live-exactly where they have been and who they have helped. sure, they could do an interview, but there is only so much an interview can make us think, after all, a picture is worth a thousand words xx

I only have one question. Did Brad or Angelina ever "bother" to check on or even visit our troops while they were on their goodwill mission? It's no secret that our troops are the only ones that are keeping their/our asses safe? Without them, Jolie/Pitt surely wouldn't be able to walk those streets without fear. Further, I strongly feel that charity begins at home. If Jolie/Pitt did for the needy children and families in this country what they are doing elsewhere, I might have some respect for them. Granted, they have "helped" post Katrina, but what else have they done in the U.S. to relieve suffering? What would be newsworthy is to see pictures of them visiting our troops. They are pathetic……..

      Re: mistah

Mistah, there is no need for her to visit the troops. The troops are accorded the ultimate privilege - that of of protecting her and her entourage from actually putting their butts at risk in any way - from the moment they hit the ground until their private jet is but a speck in the clouds. What more could our brave troops ask - or want?

They use the pictures to bring attention to people who are experiencing suffering that we couldn't even begin to comprehend. They travel to dangerous places and give generously of their time and money, how can you hate people who are just trying to do some good in the world?
