Fighting Back! Kate Gosselin Takes To The Today Show

In the wake of Jon Gosselin emptying the family bank account, Kate Gosselin appeared on The Today Show this morning to set the record straight.
Jon and Kate had a joint bank account with $231,000 that an arbitrator declared could not be withdrawn from by either party with the exception of Kate to pay the family bills.
Apparently Jon removed a large sum from the account a few days before she filed for divorce in June. "Not completely, but enough that I was worried," Kate explained.
At the advice of her attorney, Kate then removed $100,000 to set aside in the event Jon took more money. She ended up giving Jon half of that amount to do as he pleased with - which resulted in purchasing "random" things for himself.
Shortly after they were instructed to abide by the arbitrator's rules so Kate returned the money to the account, a decision she didn't feel 100 percent confident about: "I didn't feel like it would be safe, to be honest."
She was right, because up until his last withdrawal from the account on September 29, he has left a mere $1,000 in the account that contains all of their liquid funds. A weepy Kate says:
"When you've left your children and their mother without the funds to pay for the roof over their head, it's not acceptable. I need that money to provide for them. We were in the position after our sextuplets were born that we could not pay our bills. We did the show to provide a better life for them. Never did I think I'd be back in the same position. I have a stack of bills in my purse I can't put in the mail."
The divorcing couple can't seem to communicate with each other and Kate says that every time they come to some sort of agreement, "he hangs up the phone and does something different." Other times she can't reach him at all and has to make decisions on her own.
Kate further believes that Jon is on the receiving end of "bad counsel." Remember, his first attorney dropped Jon as a client back in September. Kate gets a quick burn on Jon in, saying: "He's always been one to listen to the one next to him." Isn't that the truth?

As for the kids, Kate says their upset that they aren't filming for the show:
"I told the kids over the weekend that we weren't filming. Times eight, there was wailing and sobbing. They love the crew, they love the interaction, they love the events. It is not harmful to them. They are angry."
Kate is still somehow holding out hope that Jon is going to change his ways saying, "I'm still hoping at some point I'll receive a phone call, and the old Jon is back."
We're not sure how likely that is, but Jon definitely needs to return the $$$$$$ for the sake of his children! Kate's mani-pedis and tanning sessions aside, the kiddies need to eat and a place to sleep!

Ok so she bossed him around a bit but they do have 8 kids to take care of!! Maybe she should have laid off him a tad. I wish he would go back, talk with her, be the old jon for a bit. Ok, the old jon was a bit downtrodden but he seemed like a good dad and husband. I think he may have made some poor decisions since their split but it's never to late to talk…alone too…nobody else to influence them…maybe just a relationship counsellor.
I think there's no doubt that Jon's a douche but I'm having a problem working up any sympathy for Kate on this one. She doesn't have any money to pay bills? WTF? What's happened to all the money from the show and her book deals, not to mention I'm sure she's also being paid for her public appearances. I'm just not buying that she's not able to provide for her kids. I don't think we'll be seeing her in the food stamp line anytime soon.
Kate and John should learn these words: WORK!
That's how you put food in your children's table instead of expecting your children to make you some money! Does anyone expect Kate to say that her kids don't enjoy filming and losing her ticket to high priced items?
John can be an ass, but in the light of everything that's happening, the best for those children would be to stay away from the cameras until they can decide for themselves after the age!
No one told those two idiots to get fertility treatment! If you get fertility treatment, you should expect a hefty bill to come along with it! It's not like they didn't have any kids! They had two children, go for more treatment. How did they expect to support them? I guess we either have to support them by watching the shows and keeping their bank account growing or support them with government programs!
Stop whining, Kate! Go back to your job, one that doesn't involve making your children work for you! I'm tired of seeing your whining ass!

Like they said, Jon is the 9th child of the family. What a way to leave a child, with an access to a big fat bank account…
At first I was taking her side and I do know how women are very unselfish when it comes to their children, but I am seeing now that there is more to it. She does seem to be a bit of frantic control freak and it makes sense that her ex was a bit of a pushover. It was fine when she was doing the pushing over?
The parents I am not too concerned with I agree with the other comments about the kids. The kid cry because they are not filming? Even if the Dads initial intentions aren't really for the good of the kids, I do think he is right and the kids crying because they won't be on TV is one example.
Re: Spindoc – But she did it, so the kids have money in their accounts. She makes her own money, so she does have a right to spend some of her money on whatever she pleases. The kids are not suffering for anything and have many luxuries, she can spend money on herself as well. She has other jobs. Jon was given a lot of money and look at what he has done with it. So now he wants more money because he can no longer pay for his lavish life style, he should have thought of that sooner and gotten a job. She may be a bitch, but her kids do come first and I would not let my husband do this either. Even if she has other accounts, stealing is stealing and I would have also done the same thing. She is protecting her kid's money.
Re: imsoregistered – She has made her own money, she take care of the kids financially, she can spend some of her own money on whatever she wants. And the body reference, please, Jon admitted he brought this onto light but that he didn't actually know or have any proof. His attempt was a smokescreen to stop from people looking at his indiscretions (which there is actual proof of) and start looking at her.
I'm not saying Jon isn't a jackass. He is. But if she's so freakin hard up for cash I guess she shouldn't be getting that honkin' new ring with diamonds and mother of pearl to "change up" her wedding ring. Please.
