Tone Down The Divatude, Mo'Nique Or No Oscar For You!

The critics are raving about the much-anticipated new film Precious, starring Mariah Carey and produced by Oprah Winfrey. Some of the buzz surrounding the flick is that breakout star Mo'Nique may garner herself an Oscar nod for her role.
But she won't get squat if she doesn't smarten up and lose her tude! According to sources, Mo'Nique has made some ridiculous demands for appearing in promotional events for the flick, including wanting her stylist flown in first class and a $100,000 appearance fee for the actress to show up at the festival premieres! (Ironically, Mariah didn't receive or ask for a cent!)
Her greedy attitude may lose her the chance to win an Oscar, as Oprah and fellow executive producer Tyler Perry instructed the studio, Lionsgate, to promote her costars Mariah and Gabby Sidibe more to get them into the Oscar race. However, it may be a moot point as Mo'Nique seemingly has no interest in a golden statue, just the bling she could purchase herself with a large paycheck.
A sources says: "Mo'Nique said she signed on to do this film for a small amount of money. She said she didn't care about 'no Oscar' - all that mattered was 'those Benjamins!' Because Oprah and Tyler Perry are backing the film, she feels as though there should be a budget to pay for her promotional duties."
With even more evidence to support the theory, Mo'Nique herself responded to the allegations, saying: "When people say, 'You care more about money than winning an Oscar,' well, what does an Oscar mean? An Oscar means more work when you win it, and that means more money! I couldn't eat that Oscar. Everybody needs money, baby. That's how we survive, right?"
Charming. We sure they'll give you one now! Not too smart to piss of both Oprah and Tyler perry. You're just asking never to work again!

She's just showing the world that her mother raised a fool. If she even gets nominated her asking price will skyrocket. But she's too stupid to see that. Honestly I agree with Mo’Nique what does winning an Oscar mean, nothing really. Look at a few of the people that have won Oscars lately, Penelope Cruz, Kate Winslet, Halle Berry, Jennifer Hudson, Denzel Washington, none of these people are getting more work because they won an Oscar. If anything their careers have slowed down since winning an Oscar. I agree give me the money that stupid Oscar is just a loan anyway, they have to sign a contact stating that the Oscar belongs to the academy. Some of the highest paid actors and actresses in Hollywood have never won an Oscar, and I’m sure they don’t care.
I think that this might be just a bit skewd. From what I understand of the situation, she didn't show for a festival because she is in the middle of filming her new show, they were working long days and she was too tired to do a film junket. Since her show's success, and a bunch of peoples jobs, are completely dependent on her I can't say I blame her. I didn't read her comment about asking for money, but based on how often you take people's words out of context I'm sure there was more to it than that.
By the way she's right about one thing. You can't eat an Oscar.
I never followed her comedy (too crass) and don't really know Mo. But she's no Queen Latifah and is not in a position to be making such greedy demands. If she keeps this up, she will be a pariah and she'll be blackballed.

I watched this movie at the Milwaukee Film Festival last night. It's tough movie to watch it's very intense. It's a shame that she is not willing to show up to appearances because she is fantastic in the role, her portrayal is very realistic. (as the while movie is- it's probably why it's so hard to watch because you know this happens in real life) I really think she could get herself an Oscar. Even Mrs Carey is fab in it, a very downplayed role not just in look but performance as well.
I used to work at her old talent agency WMA. She is one street..COUNTRY bitch !!! Pure D ghetto… She has already screwed her oscar chances. This could have put her ass in a new league. But word is already out. DUMB FUCK.

I'm so sad to hear this.. and I believe it 100%. Skipping all these premieres, especially TORONTO, was a real slap in the face to the Academy. I honestly think Monique is well deserving of a nomination, but her attitude stinks and at this point, I'd rather the nomination go to Mariah who is equally brilliant in this movie and is taking time out of her schedule to attend these events. Monique already has millions and if bitch don't want OSCAR consideration, there are lots that do.
