Venezuela is NOT a fan of Seth MacFarlane.
Apparently, the Venezuelan government is not appreciative of the animated comedy Family Guy, citing an episode in which Stewie Griffin conducts a song-and-dance number about how all one needs is "a bag of weed" as reasoning for banning the program nationwide.
LOLs.
The Venezuelan government even went so far as to say that the clip is the perfect example of how the United States government PROMOTES marijuana usage and the legalization of drugs.
Interior and Justice Minister Tarek El Assaimi comes to the conclusion that "adult" cartoons like Family Guy serve as "mouthpieces for the U.S. government's tolerant attitude towards drugs!"

Family Guy joins The Simpsons as banned programming in Venezuela with the government issuing a fine on any TV stations that would continue to air either show.
However the Venezuelan government has found Baywatch to be a suitable replacement.

Um dont they smoke weed down in Venezuala? Actually doesn't it grow there and don't a lot of drugs come from South America. Opium anyone? Just wondering this is silly considering marijuana really is less dangerous than alcohol, which this episode stated and is true. Also, the song is so catchy and I've never smoked pot in my life, but I am for legalization I think then less people would smoke it if that were the case which would probably then hurt the economy…..in retrospect.

Although family guy has totally jumped the shark and isn't all that funny anymore the one thing the US can say is that we promote FREE SPEECH! suck on that Venezuela. I am not a fan of Family guy, I've watched it a couple of times and its funny but I rather watch South park, the thing is, Chavez tends to use stupid things like this (banning FG) to create distractions from other important things that happen in our country, he even said that it was family Guy the show that make Venezuelans smoke weed, yeah right, he is one of the kings of drugs in latinamerica so wtf?… Anyways we watch whatever we want on cable what he says is meaningless to us and people will continue watching Family Guy cause it is very funny…

This is a political move on their part. The U.S. does not like Chavez or his politics and is penalizing them for not being more aggressive in the fight against drugs (although the US is the number one consumer of drugs in the WORLD). So, Venezuela is trying to prove the US wrong by not supporting anything even remotely related to drugs.

I'm very Brigitte Bardotesque about drugs, because I know how much it encourage the mafia, and in place like Venezuela, Salvador, Brazil, etc, the violence of the mafia is so strong that you probably take issues about drugs more sensitively than in LA where problems occuring in low classes are kind of being obliviated by the higher classes. You go to parties, people call up the drug guy, and it's all fun and natural, but when I'm at that party, I know where the drug guy comes from, and where he's returning. I know what's lying behind. I find it way more tragic than fun.

I remember when Family Guy used to be funny. Now they just want to go for the shock factor and how far they can push the envelope and I'm sorry, 9 times out of 10 it's just not funny anymore. I'm from Venezuela, and i'm a fan of Family Guy… But, i don't like the way the american ppl generalize Venezuela with regard to the government … here we're 100 % opposite to the government and we don't have ANYTHING to see with the decisions thought by the president Chavez … he's a son of a bitch who only does this kind of stuff to confuse the whole world of what really is happening in our country … So PLEASE, if you all don't know our country, then you shouldn't say those kind of stuff, cuz venezuelan people don't hate America… it's just the communism that Chavez wants to install here…

It totally is an example of our tolerance of marijuana, but I'm glad so many people accept it. You can literally walk down the street of any town in the U.S. and find at least one person who can tell you where to get some marijuana.
But in countries like Venezuela, where the crime rate is so high, I guess you can understand why they don't want something like this airing on their people's televisions.
