As of this morning, Switzerland officials denied a request to release Roman Polanski from prison, due to the fact that he is such a flight risk.
Smart move, considering the last time he fled while on bail, he was somehow able to make all the way to Europe from America! Plus, he alluded punishment for over 30 years! The guy is sneaky like that!
Not that we think he could get away with that for a second time, but still, it is possible. But America wants him back to nail his ass for what he did, and when we want something, we usually get it!
Polanski is going down!!!

There is no statute of limitations for murder and nor should there be for rape. The Swiss government should turn him over to the American officials for eventual imprisonment here. He is not eligible for the death penalty so there should be not barrier to extradition (many countries will not extradite murders to the US because we still practice this barbaric punishment unlike most "western"/"civilized" nations…I digress). He is a sick rapist and those making excuses for him are little better. Think of the message they are sending.

That the girl has "forgiven" him now is also irrelevant, ultimately he was tried by the state of California for crimes against the child, and on a larger level crimes against all the citizens of the state (by not following the law ). R. Kelly was found not guilty by the judicial system. There is no verdict of innocent in criminal cases and innocent is the last word I would use for R. Kelly. When I learned that Polanski's payment to the vctim was only 500 000$, I was disappointed. Even in today's money I find it too low. I was ready to defend Polanski, but it should have been 2 or 3 millions in that time's (1978)
money. I think I would like justice to look through more closely into this. But I can't entirely monsterize someone who has done so many great films and never retaliated his crime. If Polanski had been in prison all his life, we wouldn't have got his films, and people seem to think that his films only profits him. I don't think people grasp the good that great art can do. In a sense, we are lucky if he goes in prison now and not 30 years ago. It's not just Polanski who has been lucky in this.
