To be fair, he paid his dues and completed his three year probation, but still, this just doesn't seem right to us.
This morning, a judge in Malibu decided to honor the request made by his lawyers and expunge Mel Gibson's highly-publicized (and mocked) DUI arrest from back in July 2006.
You'll recall that Mel was pulled over by police for speeding down the Pacific Coast Highway and he was so intoxicated, that he felt the need to hate on the Jews as well as make some pretty sexist remarks.
But now, as far as the courts are concerned, it never happened.
As far as we are concerned, and about every comedian of this decade, it did. Your clean record will in no way clean your reputation, Mel. That shiz is unchangeable!

I Have no problem with the DUI being removed. The regular folks can get that done too. however the leopard has shown his spots. His true colors. Usually if you "hate" its just not one group . It's not unusual to drop a charge if you finish probation and HAD a clean record. As for running his mouth and saying what he said, he was drunk. yeah he was drunk, but like the old adage says, "Alcohol is liquid truth" It let him say what common sense would have suppressed. Its his true feelings drunk or not. Freedom of speech! Re: GOATEEDPELON805 – Totally agree its not easy to just get a first dui expunged…u have to pay a lawyer big money to get the paperwork in…the majority of us dont have big money…In California a dui even if it is ur first offense u have to pay high fines, get ur license suspended for a period of time, have to take aa meetings and it stays on ur record for 10 years….also ur auto insurance rate is higher…i know ive had to deal with my bfs 7 year old dui…thinking it had expired but no its on there for 10 years…
Actually, when you get something expunged from your record, it's NEVER off the court record. He will always have it, and it can be used against him for 7 more years to increase punishment if he gets another DUI. Expungement only prevents employers and anyone NOT in the court system from seeing it. It's NOT a complete eraser of the offense.

In America, laws do not apply to celebs in the same way as commom folks.
