Michael Crichton's Widow Wants The Money

We're nearing the one-year anniversary of novelist Michael Crichton's death and his widow and FIFTH wife, Sherri Alexander Crichton, is filing a claim against the late writer's estate for $7 million.
Sherri and Michael had a pre-nup dated April 22, 2005, which stated that she would receive $1 million per year for nine year. So far, she's only received the $2 million and she wants the rest.
According to the pre-nup she's entitled to a lump sum of the remaining cash in the event of Michael's death.
So much for still playing the part of the grieving widow!
Not when there's $7 million on the line!

Well considering its in the prenup, she has a right and is entitled to her portion of the money. Nothing wrong with it but of course you will make it seem like its a bad thing. Always twisting the story perez….
"…she would receive $1 million per year for nine year."
.
When the hell are you going to take a college course in grammer/spelling?
.
Barbara, this is a professional blogging site, is it not?
Ahem…. if you were legally entitled to 7 million, would you just walk away?!? Of course not!!! She had an agreement…and the agreement is 1 mill per year unless he dies. He died…..SO……… give her the rest of her money!!!! I think only an idiot would criticize her!!!!
why shouldn't she get her money?
Their son was also born in February 2009. This woman knew what she wanted out of this relationship: his money and a kid to milk the daddy's estate for all it's worth. Gold digging score! At least Crichton was smart enough to make her sign a pre-nup. $7M isn't much when you're worth HUNDREDS of millions.
I agree with everyone else. She's entitled to her money. It doesn't mean she's not still grieving, it just means that she wants and/or needs the money in order pay the bills. That's how it goes. You need money to survive.
Re: Whatever-u-say! – Re: Whatever-u-say! – Why is she a gold digger if she is seeking what is RIGHTFULLY hers? If I recall, his death was unexpected and he died relatively young. What evidence do you have that she was merely "gold-digging? How do you know that he had to "make" her sign a pre-nup? Maybe she volunteered to sign one? IT seems to me that he was probably worth a heck of a lot more than $7mil…if she were a gold digger than she would have demanded more….or are you going to accuse her of planning her child to "milk more" out of his estate because she knew he was going to drop dead within 5 years? You suck.
what a money grubbing gold digger
Sean Connery once said of Michael Crichton that he could take out a rib in your body with one hand and write a great book with the other. That was at a awards show. Michael was brilliant! If this is the pact he made with his wife then she deserves it. May he rest in peace.
Yeah, so what? If this were a divorce, everyone would be screaming "pre nup!" and calling opportunistic. But it's not, its his WIDOW, who has a valid legal document entitling her to a specific amount of his ESTATE. I don't see need to criticize her at all.
can this woman not read?? if it said over the next 9 years then ya gotta wait the 9 years
Re: gorgeous_chik7 –
I totally agree.
Perez has no fucking idea what he's saying half the time.
I've read many of Mr. Crichton's books and was deeply saddened by his passing…that being said…pre nups are not very romantic at all. When you get a prenup it automatically says that your marriage is about money and not love or any mutual respect; it is also an acknowledgement of distrust in the other partner's intentions; this is not indicative of a positive outcome for a relationship. Why would you marry someone who's intentions you clearly do not trust? I find pre nups to be cynical and a truly sickening sign of the value post modern society places on "love" and marriage.
$7 million dollars is one helluva motive as well, no? Let's hope Michael Crichton died a natural death.
It may be rightfully hers, but what has she been spending her $2 mill on that she wants the rest right now? Maybe she needs to learn how to budget and live within her means!
When your fifth in line, sometimes you have to be patient, Babe!
