Showgirls Sequel In The Works?

This is like the best idea ever!
Now THIS is a sequel we can get behind!
Apparently director of Showgirls Marc Vorlander is in the development stages for a sequel called Showgirls: Story of Hope. Hope being a minor character in the original played by "actress" Rena Riffel who would reprise her role.
Two Hollywood producers are said to be interested in the production with a $25 million budget! Filming would take place in Frankfurt, Germany as the plot states "it's about a stripper who died from a dose of contaminated cocaine. Her brother comes to Frankfurt to find the responsible and revenge."
Sounds HOrrendous!
We're sure Elizabeth Berkley learned her lesson the first time and is staying far, FAR away from this!

Sounds like the lamest follow up story ever. Showgirls was only meant to be a one-off. Can we please come back down to reality and realize this would waste millions of $ and no one would watch.
"Showgirls" was a cult classic. It basically put Elizabeth on the map. Why would she stay away from the sequel? No one has seen her since!

Agreed. Plus, they were not trying to make a camp movie….it just turned out that way. It's hilarious (except for the rape scene).
The director was Paul Verhoeven NOT Marc Vorlander.

I would totally see S.G.II. Elizabeth Berkley would be crazy to not want to be involved. It's played regularily on cable. I love how they put the digital pasties on the dancers. They should go for it and in a serious manner as before. Love that over the top-Mommie Dearest kinda drama. Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy!!!!!

Love it. I'm embarrassed to admit it but I've seen the first one about 3 times! Love the scene where they talk about eating dogfood. Classic!
the idea sounds like something i would watch but judging from what a shitty movie Showgirls was there is no way that this is going to be any good. especially if the story is along the same lines as the first. LAME
How hard would it be to do research? Go to IMDB, it takes five seconds. The director of Showgirls is PAUL VERHOEVEN! Get it right. Marc Vorlander, never heard of that name in my life. I can understand if he's too ashamed to admit he made it but he's the director of SG, Basic Instinct and Starship Troopers.

The worst idea ever. The first one sucked ass, as the second one will. Why would anybody waste 25 million on this bull shit?!!
A good sequal to this movie would be for Elizabeth Berkley to take over the Gina Gershon role in the movie, and have a similar jealously scenario play out with a new up-and-coming Showgirl.

amazing! hopefully it will have that same so-bad-it's-good quality that the first one had! but gina gershon was like the best part of the original, so it could really go either way!
