CBS can cancel the show - but cannot fire Letterman as he is employed by World Wide Pants, his own production company.
Since there have been no complaints by female staffers - he did not break any guidelines or protocol, professionally speaking.
He was not bound by CBS's disclosure clause.
His actions may have been morally bereft - but did not break professional policy.

At the crap hole I work it is against company policy for managers/bosses to have relations with employees they manage. Both people would get fired if this happened. I don't see why this should be any different. I had always wondered why "Monty" was on the show so frequently considering she isn't funny at all. She was screwing the boss. It all makes perfect sense now.

We didn't fire our President and his cheating was accomplished while he was married and in office! He was unmarried, the women were of age and none have come forward to say if they didn't sleep with him they felt their jobs in jeapordy. No, I don't think he should be fired. As long as there was two consiting adults then whats the problem. The issue is not that he had relations with these women how every many there where. The issue is that someone tried to blackmail him in regards to this matter which is illegal.

That is someone who deserved to lose his job. John Edwards too. What he did was unspeakable. He had an affair AND fathered a child while his wife is suffering from breast cancer. THEN HE DENIED IT. Letterman has handled this unexpected burp of a fallout with extreme grace. It's not what happens to you, but how you deal with it. I give Dave an A+ for the manner in which he has stood up and owned up under trying circumstances. I wasn't sure about him before, but he has shown true character with the nature of his sincere apology to his wife. Well done.

Well its a good think these decisions are not made by mob rules mentality. I'll, and probably CBS, will also let the ratings do the talking. Frankly we did not even take any action against President Clinton for having sex with an intern. He was impeached for
committing perjury about the relationship and even then the Senate found him not guilty. Dave should not be fired until an employee comes forward to complain (which may be inevitable) and even then disciplinary action should come first.

Why would Dave be fired?
So far, I have read nothing about policies or laws he has broken.

The trouble comes when someone wields undue power over another, but all I've heard in the media is how dang nice he is. No one seems to be complaining. America is so hung up about nookie that I swear half of them aren't getting any. Before you go off on me about senior employees doing junior employees, I am fully aware of the issues. If someone makes a pass at you and you feel uncomfortable, say so and walk away.
