While Kate looks forward to the birthday of her twins, Jon Gosselin is trying to make it all about him by attempting to manipulate his allotted time with the childrenz.
"Thursday is Cara and Mady’s 9th birthday," said Kate. "That's my focus to get me through the next few days. I'm going to bake a chocolate cake from scratch, and that's going to feel normal and happy."
Cute, especially because she barred Jon from the festivities!
"She's trying to prevent me from seeing my kids on Mady and Cara's birthday," Jon declared. "That's like giving her full custody by obeying her. She can't tell me what to do. I'm not going to allow it. I'm just going to stay. I own the house so I can do what I want."

The douche claims that Kate will only allow him at their Pennsylvania home from 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursday and he plans to change their agreement for the weekend!

According to the LEGAL CUSTODY AGREEMENT they BOTH SIGNED and agreed to, all birthdays and holidays are JOINT CUSTODY DAYS. Each parent agrees to be with the children all day on those specific days.
However, Kate sent John and email telling him he would not be allowed to exercise his joint custody rights on Cara and Maddy's birthday because SHE didn't want him there.
Legally, she can not do that. And also, SHE is the one trying to change the custody for the weekend, not John.
And while you were blasting Jon for being in L.A., IT WASN"T HIS CUSTODY, it was Kate's. But Kate left the children alone with a nanny to go to NYC with her "bodyguard" Steve instead of staying home with her kids.

and perez, my parents divorced when i was 14, and it was a very painful horrible situation, it's not easy and it's extremely messy, and i think kate is doing her part in keeping as much normalcy for her kids as possible.
I remembered something about a set of quints born in the 70s, which was a huge rarity at that time. There were two other children in the family. The parents were really careful not to have them exploited except, and the only thing that anyone knew about them was every year for their birthdays some women's magazine did an update story on them. The father ended up committing suicide because of the financial responsibility of such a huge family. Yeah I know, that makes no sense, but that was what he did.
Now this Jon and Kate thing is a lot of fun because they're both such jerks in their own way, and I'm sure I'll be happy to join in the comment fray once again, but I just remembered that man who couldn't handle the responsibility of all those children, and hope this thing doesn't play out badly in the end.

They really are only going through what every other divorcing parent goes through. The sad realization that if you can't agree and can't get along to be together on holidays, birthdays, etc., the courts will decide when and when you cannot see your kids. It's tough, probably made tougher by having such young children, but that is what divorce is. An agreement is in place and any judge/policeman, etc. will enforce it. She probably wants the kids for every single holiday, event, etc., but she is just going to have to find out that won't be the case unless she pays him off. No matter how big a douche he is, he is entitled to see his kids during his time. She picked him, her kids didn't.

Ok so if the kids birthday falls on a school day and daddy Jon picks them up from school and stays till around 6 (usually after dinner for young kids). How is that not spending the day with them? I am sure it would be a bit uncomfortable for both of the parents and confussing for the kids if he were to spend the night. Is that what he is asking for?

Depending on the story depends on my opinion with the Gosselins. If it is Jons allowed hours to also be with the kids because of their Bday then he should be allowed "no questions asked". However if its not his time he cant all of a sudden change his additude . When Kate didnt agree about the one babysitter being used he didnt even hear her out. So you cant dissagree with the rules just so they benefit you. Being a parent myself i would hope in a divorce situation i would always put my childrens happiness first, even if that meant bending the rules and tolerating the other half for a few hours. that's stupid. My ex and I share custody. My son's birthday was on a "mom" day this year, so he was at my house. a few days later, at his dad's house, he had a second birthday there. We've done it this way forever; holidays are the same, he has Christmas once at my house and once at the other house. The twins could get two birthdays; I think it's the way most broken families do it. or should. my son sure as hell doesn't care. it's just a date.

It's the TWINS birthday, not yours, Kate. Legally, Jon is allowed to be there on holidays and birthdays, so you need to suck it up and deal with it.

I used to feel so bad for Jon when Kate would nag and yell at him and even moreso when she would just talk right over him during the interviews like he wasn't even there. Kate didn't want to get them from the start. I think if Jon really wanted them (only my opinion, nothing more) he could have gotten a large affordable apt. near the kids in PA. (instead of hours away in NYC) and he could have kept the dogs himself. The choices he made let to the purchase and abandonment of the dogs he wanted. I am sorry about the birthday and hug! I love how his only argument is centered around himself and not Mady and Cara. I could MAYBE understand if he was aying he was upset because Kate wasn't letting him see Mady and Cara, but he's whining because HE'S getting "mistreated." Nancy Grace was right, he really does try to relate every single issue to himself. He wants to be at that party to prove Kate wrong; not because he wants to be there for Mady and Cara. I honestly wish he would dissapear. I get so sick of his juvenile, frat-boy attitude.
I don't get why Perez is so intent on smearing Jon. Is he being paid by Kate? WEIRD! Kate's acting like a controlling bitch and is making things very hard for the kids. I'm glad Jon is standing up for himself. If he wasn't being attacked, you wouldn't have to hear him defending himself. The media needs to quit twisting him into a villain. You KNOW TLC must be behind that to keep interest in this irritating couple and to punish Jon for not cooperating with their greed.
It is getting annoying that both parents are getting all this press. But I have to say, why is he soo upset all of the sudden? If it is Kate's turn to have the children she can turn him away. After all didn' he do the same to her a few months ago when she wanted to come watch the children while he partied? and the cops were called, and he wouldn't let her in the house? Fair's fair Jon, at least she will let you in to see your kids for 2 hours.

Re: preciousfew – You are so right. Everyone is coming down so hard on Jon, and noone is looking at Kate. From watching the shows in the past, it is very clear that Kate is no angel. While I DO NOT agree with some of the things that Jon has done publicly, I am glad that he finally grew a pair of balls and stands up to this woman.

Given his behaviour as of late, I don't blame Kate. She wasn't stopping Jon from seeing the girls, just didn't have WWII for their birthday party. He did manage to call the media and give them their gifts in front of the camera. Not all of America is dumb enough to see thru this.
