Michael Vick Gets His Own Reality Show
Reality TV really is going to the dogs.
BET is giving dog-abuser Michael Vick his own reality show, as of right now called The Michael Vick Project.
The show is going to revolve around his comeback to the NFL as a new team member on the Philadelphia Eagles and his tarnished public image as a result of his arrest for the dog fighting ring in 2007.
Vick says:
"I just want people to really get to know me as an individual. What I want to do is change the perception of me. I am a human being. I've made some mistakes in the past, and I wish it had never happened. But it's not about how you fall, but about how you pick yourself up."
PETA spokesman Dan Shannon begged to differ saying that "people who abuse animals don't deserve to be rewarded. They shouldn't be given multimillion-dollar contracts…or given the privilege of being a role model."
PETA might spew a whole lotta crazy sometimes, but we're with them 100% on this one!

I understand that certain racial stigmas are still out there but I thought that people were working on putting those aside instead of using it as a weapon to condemn someone and judge them based on their skin colour. I don't like what Vick did, not even a little. I have a dog and I love him, I would never treat him in that manner and I do see it as being grossly inhumane and unjustified. I would want any person who treats a defenseless creature like that to be punished. He has been punished, he went to jail and lost two years of his life, a perfectly good payment for what he did to an ANIMAL. People get less jail time, punishment and condemation for domestic abuse and assult. He's trying to get his life back, he knows what he did was wrong and he apologized. Who are we to judge his sincerity? No matter what he does in order to "earn a second chance" people are going to say its insincere. At this point all he can do is throw himself to a pack of dogs and get killed and then people would believe he's sorry. I think he should get a second chance at his life. Skeptisim and all. Eventually and hopefully all the hate toward him will wear off and he will be able to move on as well and do better things with his time and money.

Do you know that part of his salary agreement includes payments to animal shelters and societies? Probably not, because instead of forming a well thought out opinion, someone else does it for you ala Perez. God allows for a man to atone for his sins. IMO, whether or not Vick is sincere (I'm not in his head), he IS doing something about it. As they say, actions speak louder than words. So far, he's donated cash AND time to the right places for education to others. He's spent his time in prison. Actions speak louder than words. And right now, his actions are using his celebrity status to get the word out, making donations that are saving hundreds of animals lives. Does it matter at this point, if he never does it again, how sincere he is? Because if you are TRULY an animal lover, you'd be happy that though he screwed up, his lifetime atonements will save millions of animals lives.

I can't believe the guy who says animals are mindless and have no soul. We've had our pitbull for 8 yrs and she is smart and has an old wise soul. She sleeps in my kids' room in the older one's bed. She knows when we are sad and has protected our home from intruders. We treat all of our animals like family member, everyone should treat their animals that way. He served his time and will forever have to live with the consequences of his actions. There is such a thing as rehabilitation and that is the purpose of our justice system. We do not know what kind of contributions Mike is making to animal shelters; but we do know he is talking to others about the wrongs he has committed and the importance of making better decisions (than he did)! Let this man live his life. How can you call yourself humane and wish for the demise of another person? It is the responsibility of the parents to model good behavior for their child and not rely on the television to do it for them!! Those "vicious animals" were rescued and now are now loving pets and some are registered therapy dogs at hospitals. People who purposely TORTURE animals for the sheer fun of 'sport' are the same ones that would feel nothing in harming another living being. They have already proven that children who abuse animals are most likely to commit heinous crimes in adulthood.
And just as a note, nobody I know wears fur or decapitates for sport. If someone I know hunts, it's for FOOD, and done in the most efficient and painless way possible. We don't shoot a deer to watch it scream in pain, but he fought/tortured dogs because it was amusing to him. BIG FUCKING DIFFERENCE!
