Illiterate! R. Kelly Doesn't Read!

Did you guys know that R. Kelly is illiterate????
We sure didn't!
According to a speech Kelly gave at the Midwest Music Festival in Chicago, the scandal-driven R&B star says he barely graduated from elementary school!
"I don't even read really and I'm not afraid to say that," revealed Kelly. "The only reason I graduated from grammar school is because I had a great jump shot."
Once entering high school, one of R. Kelly's teachers let the singer know they believed in his talents as a writer and wouldn't let him coast through without taking advantage of his skill.
"I went to high school and [my teacher] told me, 'You will be one of the greatest writers of all time,'" said Kelly. "I believed. You [have to] believe it. You can't believe [anything] if you're hating."

Big deal. Half of the celebs in Hollywood are barely literate. I doubt that the majority of them have more than a 10th grade education.

I don't know what to think of that. There are many incredibily bright people who have very little book knowledge. There are also a lot of smart people graduating from college. Anyone with an adverage amount of intelligence can sit thru law classes and apply themselves to study for the Bar if they are motivated. Intelligence is very subjective, and the older you get, the more you realize how subjective and different it can be. I've met some stunningly intelligent people who where illiterate and some PHD's who were dum as rocks. The most stunning example was years ago when I worked for the phone company and got a call from an illiterate elderly black woman who couldn't read her bill. She literally couldn't read it. I explained the financial terms to her in detail, mostly comprehensive, and she repeated it to me like no one's business. She understood every bit and crany because she had NATURAL INTELLIGENGE.

Education is a means to an end, to prepare people for gainful and fulfilling life. R. Kelley has a gainful and fulfilling life. Those judging him, could only dream of achieving a fraction of what R. Kelly has achived. They need to shut up. He has NOT been found guilty of any crime, and other people's intimate sexual life, is no one else's business.

The education system has failed him. If you can't read you should not be advanced to the next grade level, no matter how great your jump shot is. That's what wrong with this country, that people think they're going to be basketball players or rap stars.
Perv, you're SUCH an idiot. Or Babs, or whoever wrote this crap. The definition of "illiterate" is "the inability to read to read AND write". It's not an "either or" situation. One could feasibly be able to read but NOT write, but one cannot write without the ability to read.
A non-reader could conceivably dictate to another who could transcribe. The non-reader would therefore be a "composer" of literature, but not a writer.
Bottom line? Nowhere does R say he "can't" read: he says he "doesn't" read. Big difference. Big FAT difference.

Do you know that many famous musicians play by hear and cannot read music. Marlee Martin is a great deaf actress. He is not illiterate, he is just not a big reader. Fantasia said the same thing. He does not have to go back to school not. What axactly would a degree do, get him a higher paying job. It might surprise you to know that the Kelly music catalog is well in the millions. He writes the songs and not just the ones he sings. He writes the songs for others, tv, movies, muzak, jingles etc. I think he will survive without a bachelors degree. Half of hollyweird skated through school, they just aren't saying it.
