Chris Rock On Being Sued
Chris Rock is being sued by a woman named Regina Kimball for allegedly stealing the idea for his documentary Good Hair from her documentary Nappy Roots.
And, now, Chris just weighed in on the situation:
"It's weird because I called her to see the movie, and told her I was doing a movie, so it's not like anybody was hiding it. It's like, 'I'm thinking about doing a movie on hair.' It was really to watch it to make sure I wasn't going to make that movie. The only similarity is her movie goes to India and mine goes to India, but I don't even know if she went to India. I think she got footage. That's about it. Her movie is about [hair care entrepreneur Madam] C.J. Walker, histories of hair, men, women… She'll probably be able to sell it now because of Good Hair, but it's not humorous at all. If you did two documentaries on George Washington, there'd be some similarities, but they're not the same documentary. We'll see what happens. I guess I'll talk to my lawyers later today."

He raises a good point we didn't think about before. People make documentaries on the same things all the time, but they tell different stories.
Now it seems like Chris knew what he was doing!

Chris Rock is a stand-up guy too!
He has integrity so I had a problem with this story from the beginning.
I am sure Chris didn't do anything underhanded.
LOL…."she'll probably be able to sell it now because of Good Hair"!! True!! Not like she was doing anything with her movie before this.
And it is not as if her idea for a documentary on Madame Walker is new. I saw a documentary on her 20 years ago at a journalist conference when I was a student. Maybe someone should sue her!

Well he definitely knows what he is doing. He is already swaying public opinion by dancing around a bit, she didn't have the same resources as Kris to go to India but that is not a coincidence to just gloss over. The concept of Good Hair Bad Hair, Good Hair Day Bad hair Day, is around in most cultures that have hair.
Don't think this is a doc. So if his key plot points match hers, he's potentially fried.

So which one of them copied the idea from a Brit TV documentary about the same thing that was on earlier this year - the programme went to India where women have all their heads shaved to sell their hair and also to Russia where teenagers sell their unbleached hair for $100 a pop….it's then used for weaves for which people like Naomi and Beyonce pay $1,000.. wonder if they watched…

Chris Rock is a Notorious thief. I know for a fact, I worked for him. He goes to see small obscure acts and steals their entire acts. He is a Phony and a Hater ask anyone who knows him. A total Loser.
Re: Kodes100 – He is anything but. He hates on Dave Chappelle, Will Smith, Ali Leroy who used to be his partner. Tracy Morgan HATES HIM. When someone starts to pass him professionally he can't take it. He is a punk and a loser. His brother is 1000 times cooler than him.
the trailers for both movies appear wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy to similar. in my opinion, too similar to be a conincidence.
