Eddie's Out, Marlon's In On Richard Pryor Biopic

Can the same guy who dressed in drag as a white woman be able to pull off a biopic about one of the best black comedians of the times?
For his sake, we hope so!
Marlon Wayans will be replacing Eddie Murphy in the starring role of the upcoming feature film Richard Pryor: Is It Something I Said?
The change stems from the previous switch of studios (Eddie was on board when the flick belonged to Paramount, but not such much with Sony.) Marlon was asked to perform in a 13-minute screen test in which we hear he "transformed into Pryor" and "blew the producers away", which includes Pryor's late wife and Chris Rock. Barring a actual finalized contract, Marlon is locked in!

yes he can do it. marlon is surprisingly a very good actor, hence his work in Requiem for a Dream. He'll be great.

Yes despite what you think Perez Marlon and the Wayans brothers are funny, there movies have probably done a lot better than all the things Murphy has been putting out in the last few years. I bet he'll handle it just fine.
I second Boog's comment - Marlon was amazing in Requiem for a Dream and a lot if not most comedians have that ability to reach deep for the pathos.
You should see Requiem for a Dream and rethink the serious actor followed by a question mark…
I would've LOVED to see Eddie Murphy in this role. It's a natural fit for him and I think he could've won the Oscar this time around. Oh well. What's meant to be will be. Pryor's wife was floored by the performance so I hope it's true. If so, then yes, he should be given the chance to do it and deliver us all this Gift:).

Marlon did an amazing job in Requiem For A Dream and that was 9years ago. He's probably even a way better actor now.

At 48 Eddie Murphy is frankly too old to portray Richard Prior. Even though Richard lived to be 65 those last 15 years were spent dealing with his M.S.
Marlon being 37 is just the right age to portray Prior at his peak. It cannot be underestimated home many doors Prior opened for all comedians, regardless of color.
His flawed life (and who is without sin/flaws) along with his monumental successes will make for a great bio-pic.
Either it'll destroy his career, or make his a sensation. It'll be interesting to see what happens.
Perez, fyi , Pryor was one of the BEST comedians of all time! Murphy is a has been if you ask me. I'm happy for Marlon.

He was fantastic in Requiem for a Dream, and he's nowhere near the Diva Eddie Murphy has become. It's good that they got somebody who is talented, but hasn't had his head buried deeply in his own ass for over a decade to do this film. I think he'll elevate it to the level it was always meant to be.
Are you kidding? For realism, they should check out his son ,Richard Pryor Jr! He is the spitting image of his dad and has the sense of humor too!

Have you SEEN Requiem for a Dream? He had an extremely challenging dramatic role in that and did a great job. I think he will be awesome.

Requiem for a Dream is one of my favorite movies, and Marlon did a superb job on that film, so I think he will definitely be able to pull off portraying Richard Pryor!
