After racking up a $70 bill on steak and mac and cheese at an Outback Steakhouse in Burbank last Sunday, the non-Twittering singer didn't leave a damn thing for the staff.
Seriously!? We know it's not Katsuya, but that doesn't mean you gotta be cheap!
According to a source Miley pulled out an envelope of $100 bills, paid with one and then kept the change.
How rude!
Word got to a rep of the lip-syncing rapper because they're already doing damage control by saying "she didn't know she was supposed to tip unless she was eating inside."
Mama and Poppa Cyrus need to teach their childrenz about proper restaurant etiquette.

You do normally tip on take out, just like you would with say delivery. There is someone in that restaurant that makes minimum wage, takes the phone order, puts the order in, packs up the order and brings it outside. Trust me they DON'T do that for minimum wage. For all you know that person making minimum wage has three children to take care of and a wife. Tipping 10% off of take out is perfectly fine. However when dinning in it is critical to tip 18-20% even if service wasn't incredible. If you thought the service was incredible then tip 25% anything less is cheap and if you cant afford it then just go to McDonalds.
There are so many people that don't know proper tipping etiquette and these people obviously had trashy parents because they are only learning by there example. That's the only explanation I can think of..

I have a friend who works for walt disney world and she said that when she stayed at one of the nice resorts, Miley was rude and trashed the place. These restaurants pay the host/hostess practically nothing because they figure that people will be smart enough to tip, which obviously isn't true.

Tipping in the US is out of control. First of all, you do not tip for take out. While it is appreciated, it is not required or encouraged like dining in. A host or hostess, who likely places teh carry out order, makes minimum wage, which is TWICE as much as server do. So wait, why do you need the tip again???

I used to work putting together to go orders for a nice restaurant. Quite frankly, although I'm putting your food order together, I'm not really waiting on you… running around, checking back, getting extra sauce/napkins/waterever. A TO GO PERSON DOESN'T DESERVE AS MUCH AS A WAITRESS and it's stupid to get in a huff and go public because so and so didn't tip you. I'd be happy with a dollar or two, that's all I leave.

Oh YES you DO tip for take-out. SOMEONE has to box, bag, and fill your little carry out sack with whatever plastic ware, condiments and whatever else your cheap asses need. Most of the time that person is the bartender or server who has to take time away from their tipping customers to do you that service. IF YOU CAN'T AFFORD TO TIP, COOK AT HOME.

Yes those service workers make LESS THAN minimum wage, but knowing they are dependent on tips, they should bust their asses that much harder. If I don't want to tip 25% I should eat at McDonald's? But it's a fact in this country, so please do your best to assimilate while you are visiting or living here. Service workers are exempt from minimum wage laws, and thus do rely heavily on tips. Yes, it sucks that we the customer are expected to make up the shortcoming and basically pay the restaurant owner's staff. But it is what it is, and if you don't like it, I suggest you eat at home.

Maybe because restaurants don't have separate credit card slips for takeout and dine-in service? I know how to tip. I start people at 20% and they work their way down when I dine in. I don't tip a thing on takeout orders. Delivery guys for pizza and such? They get 20% and never have to do anything except bring me my grub.

You are not required or expected to tip for take out. I would not tip either. If the Burbank Outback is expecting tips for take out they should post a sign saying so, and I think the greedy asshole complaining should be fired for making the restaurant look bad.

But here it appears we are talking about take-out and according to multiple tipping etiquette sites I visited (quickly), as to take-out "Nothing is really necessary", if you care to, one or two dollars, 10% at the most. This is from sites that frankly advocate too much tipping and they feel for take-out it's "not necessary". Collect you paycheck and be happy.
