Stephen Gately's Cause of Death: Choked On His Own Vomit???

According to the Mirror, Stephen Gately died from complications of drinking in excess.
The Boyzone star was discovered by his partner Andy Cowles in his Majorca apartment kneeling against the sofa with his face buried in the pillow.
It is said that he died in his sleep when he choked on his vomit after drinking at a club until 6 a.m.
“The family have been told the most likely scenario is Stephen had a bit too much to drink, vomited in his sleep and choked. It was a terrible accident,” divulged a close friend.
And although he had suffered depression in the past, that was not the reason for overdoing it!
It was just a vacation turned tragic!
“There’s no foul play involved. There is nothing untoward. It’s not drugs, it’s not suicide, it’s not murder, it’s not a fight,” claims lawyer Gerald Kean.
But, the police are trying to locate a Bulgarian man named, Giorgio who met the couple at the club and returned with them to their apartment. Authorities feel that he may be able to offer more details into what happened.
Stephen will be greatly missed - especially by his bandmates.
“I’m devastated. I can’t believe it’s real," said Ronan. “We’ve lost a best friend and a brother. Stephen was loved by every one of us. He was one of the most caring, compassionate and gentle people I’ve known.”

I heard it was a mixture of sperm and alcohol. All that random spunk in his throat clogged him up.
I don't know the guy but it's still sad. I do know of someone else this happened to. People need to realize this,when they drink.

Apparently stephen wasn't a heavy drinker and it was just a one-off. This was just a tragic accident. RIP Stephen.

That's how Jimmi Hendrix died - choked on his own vomit while passed out on drugs though and booze. I used to drink like that but after a while it is just not fun anymore. Too bad for this guy, it was a preventable, stupid death.

This is UTTER rubbish!! A postmortem hasn't even taken place yet as it's a public holiday in Majorca. None of his friends or family members have spoken to the press and we all know the Daily Mirror along with the Sun are two of the least believable pieces of tabloid crap.

Re: Phew!!! – Well the fact that he is not a heavy drinker may be why he couldn't handle a lot of alcohol. I'm not a heavy drinker and after two drinks, I'm useless. So the fact that he's not a heavy drinker actually lends credence to this story.

It is really common. I went to CSU Chico, it seem to happen lot. Especially on someone 21st bday. You drink so many shots, by the time your body process the alcohol your beyond f'ed up.
my uncle is a close friend of stephens and from being out in dublin a lot with him he says that he rarely even drank, often he would just have a coke or 7up! who's to say it wasnt a heart attack?! wait until the tests come out and then speulate!…and dont believe the bullshit in the papers! they know fuck all!!!!

Hey, I'm Irish and this news is everywhere today. Latest thing is that his family are COMPLETELY denying the rumour that he died in this way. You shouldnt report something like that when the only "facts" you have are from the mirror, a well known rag.

Here here. Alcohol is the most dangerous drug of all because it is legal and just about anybody can get their hands on it. Drinking to excess can kill!
His death is very sad, but why do people need to get so drunk? Is it really worth it? What a stupid way to die.
If he didn't drink much it makes it all the more likely he could have succumbed to a night of trying to keep up with others.

THE post-mortem on the body of STEPHEN GATELY has revealed the BOYZONE star died of natural causes.
Speaking outisde the court in Majorca's capital Palma, on official said the tragic 33-year-old suffered a pulmonary oedema - which is an accumulation of fluid on the lungs.
As there are no suspicious circumstances behind Stephen's sudden death, his parents and husband ANDY COWLES can now make arrangements to take the body home.
Friends and family of the star - who died in his apartment on the Spanish isle - are still awaiting the results of in-depth toxicology tests, which will take longer to come back.
