Connecticut College "Protecting" Their Coeds From Letterman!

Quinnipiac University in Connecticut isn't taking the David Letterman scandal lightly. The university is involved with The Late Show's internship program and they are going to be observing the situation much more closely from now on.
A university rep says:
"Due to recent circumstances we will have a discussion with those in charge of placing our interns at the David Letterman show in the future. We will diligently oversee this internship program to ensure that our interns are out of harm's way."
What does that even mean?!
We think this is a touch ridiculous as college-aged women are adults more than capable of making their own decisions — whether that means getting laid on the job by the boss or not!

Well, if I were still a co-ed, all I could say would be "bring it!"
mark your calendar, perez: i think you're right.
agreed…ridiculous.
Maybe as a New Yorker, but college age is where you're still figuring things out, and make our first mistakes alone. Would you really want that first mistake to be David Letterman, ugh. Cmon Perez
i think it means that Letterman is a trenchcoat, preverted old man
How idiotic. The interns are over the age of 18 and can do whatever they like in their private life.
Somehow I can't see David Letterman walking around his kingdon with his junk hanging out. Face it folks, the only intelligent adult female who would fuck him is one who wants to futher her own agenda.
So 2 people at the office hooked up… that never happens.
That's what nyc tv show's are looking for…. kids from Quinnipiac.
Re: Crabby.Appelton –
Agreed!
so american !
Please refrain from using stupid, outdated, sexist terms like "co-ed". What is this, 1953?

OMG, this story is being taken so seriously, and distracts from serious issues. Sex between consenting adults is none of our business. No one will ever know the exact truth except for the parties involved, and WHO CARES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No crime was committed under the Law.
College aged kids are still somewhat influenced by their parents, so if the parents don't feel comfortable with this school's internship program then the students might leave and find another school, not to mention incoming freshmen who would be deterred by their parents from applying in the first place. It's a PR move.
are college gals old enough to consent…sure but does it make it right to be put in an in intern situation and be hit on by your much older boss. naw, really it's not cool to do that no matter who you are. when you take on interns you have a responsibility to them and it's just not the "right" thing to do to take advantage.
It IS a big deal when one person (the "professional") has more power than the other in this mentorship and uses this power inappropriately. It happens all the time and it's wrong. Outside of the classroom, who cares what two consenting adults do privately.
Wow…obviously you don't understand sexual harassment at work. Get knowledgable about it. Women are still treated as lower class citizens and qui pro quid does exist in these situation. The college is correct and perez is stupid bitch…I guess he doesn't understand as no one would want to sexually harrass him!
Fuck Quinnipiac University!!!
*
ridiculous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As a student at this University, this is ABSOLUTELY embarrassing, BUT not surprising. Being a private university, they claim to have our best interest in mind all the time… RIDICULOUS! Quinnipiac University administrators just want attention..
LOVEEEE QUINNI
figures Quinnipiac would do that! That school sucked. believe me, I went there.
Re: SheriMoonFireFly – …well said!
Re: jjjjjjjjenn – i agree - but i don't have the impression that anyone was sexually assaulted in this case.
Oh please! Those women he slept with obviously WANTED to fuck him. Who cares, get over it already people.
i'm with you on this one…grown ups are grown ups. it's not the university's responsibility, and the only "harm" done was consented between letterman and his ladies. they knew what they were getting into. the university is a bit overdramatik
i read some of these peoples' comments and are they serious? the accusation and admission was not about sexual harassment (ie "getting hit on by your old man boss"). it was about consensual sex with a co-worker. if you're over 18 and you "make some bad decisions" like "sleeping with your boss" then who is responsible? personally, i think people much younger than 18 should be held accountable for their actions but in america we like to give people the benefit of the doubt.
and why is someone else's sex life any of our business? if they're not a clergyman or politician upholding some sort or moral code then what is the issue? this is why we don't recognize same sex marriages in america. we have our heads too far up our asses judging other peoples' sex lives. as americans, we need to get a clue.
Hmm… I think it means somebody somewhere tried suing the school over the intern program (using the scandel to their best arguement) and I would LUVVVVVVVVV to find out what happened!!
This hububb is why we are known as UGLY AMERICANS. The perverts are the ones who read, point fingers and leer at others personal lives. It is crude, childish, and mean.
As for mistakes, I have made some doozies in my life, so I still support Dave. He, at least, is a gentleman.
He's their superior at work. If they're expected to sleep with him, then it's a problem, and its coercion.

i go to QU, and i think they just are saying that because of the 50,000 a year people have to pay–parents wont want their kids getting nailed by letterman. that is all. but im honored my school made your website perez!
Perez, I think hell may have frozen over today because I actually agree with you. This is just so STUPID! I am so sick of these people coming out trying to protect these "poor helpless interns". Give me a break people! These are not teen-agers. These are grown women! And nowhere, ever, has anybody made claims of sexual harrassment against David Letterman! Just because you sleep with an employee, that doesn't mean you had to bully them to do it!
NONE of us here know all the facts of this case, (nor should we since its none of our business) so we have no right to judge and act like we know what is going on.
lol @ Annie Sue, I like many students went to this school but ended up transferring out, there are limited opportunities there- i mean really…think about your students every once in a while QU! Where Letterman sticks it is HIS business and none of ours, if the interns are of age and are consensually down to fuck then I ask what is the problem?…. Great attempt at some PR Qu take a stand to hold your students back in these rough times, homegirl was making $200,000 and up!
a few of my friends go to QU and I almost went there for law school. I can say that this is exactly the type of thing the school does. I'm sure nothing specific happened at the school to warrant this. Its typical overreaction. Also its a private school- meaning they take big money from alumni and donors - this is just a move to ensure that the money keeps flowing.
and if this school attempts to woo you with a scholarship , run the other way like I did, No one stays on campus for the weekends, and I actually spent my best days there in the Library (sad really ) if anyone tells you they actually enjoyed this place it was because they were either drunk, high, or absent for 99% of the time
There so much more to offer down the turnpike or up for that matter
Q-PAC SLUTS FTW!!!
wow.where are the morals? while i do agree that the interns are al adults, obviously, I still think its quite fucked up that people think it's chill for a MARRIED MAN like Letterman to "do whatever he wants" just because "he's an adult" and so are the interns. HAVE YOU EVER THOUGHT THAT CHEATING HURTS PEOPLE?! if the interns kept their legs closed and stopped being suck little sluts, and if Lettermen let go of his stupid white man power trip, none of this would have happened. You people are missing the WAYYYY bigger picture. Even if they're both of legal age, its still messsed up to cheat, especially if you're MARRIED! this is why it amazes me that a gay couple actually in love can't get married but a slime bag who thinks its chill to cheat on his wife CAN.
for anyone on this website bashing Quinnipiac, FUCK YOU! We're probably smarter than you will ever be and still manage to party all the fuckin time. thats all i wanted to say =]
I love to work where I can get laid.
I love my school and everyone who talks shit about it probably dropped out because it was too hard for them and they just expected to continue their stream of never having to actually work for anything in their lives and just getting it handed to them. Sorry Quinnipiac doesn't just turn a blind eye to the fact that someone they trusted to give their students real life working experience was embroiled in a workplace sex scandal. It says they'd keep an eye on things with their NBC interns, not pull them out all together, so why are YOU making it such a big deal?
I don't know what the big deal is on this issue. I will say that the college is being responsible if they go that extra yard to make sure the interns they place have a professional atmosphere to work in. I know college age students are adults but this still seems like doing due diligence.
Whoops. More fallout. From some of the college girls I've seen walking around, they also need to protect Dave from some of them.
too funny…guess what school is getting cut from the intern list in the future. I'm sure there is a whole list of other schools vying to send their students to the Late Show. Talk about over reaction! Boo hoo.
