   1) an album can chart at #11 and end up going platinum or chart at #3 and only go gold, it matters about how much it sells in the end that matters

   Re: lovers – It's an album sales war. The record industry likes to hype up album sales to see who will be the winner. Rihanna, Lady Gaga and Britney are all the "Princesses of pop" and this hype from competition will likely push sales further overall. It's a ploy. They did this with Mariah, Madonna and Barbra last week and it pushed overall sales up from the same point last year. So that's why they do this. I think Adam Lambert will be #1 though. Rihanna #2, Gaga #3 and Britney top five or ten (afterall it's only a collection album which never sell well right off the bat, but do in the long run).
