Suri Going To Catholic School!

| Filed under: Tom CruiseKatie HolmesSuri Cruise

Xenu is not going to be pleased with this!

While Tom Cruise is working on his new flick Wichita in Boston, he and his wife Katie Holmes have supposedly come to the mutual decision to enroll little Suri Cruise in a Catholic pre-school.

The Yawkey Centre for Early Education and Learning is run by Catholic Charities and apparently Katie's family is thrilled about their decision. A source close to the Cruise family says:

"There is no rift between Tom and Katie over this. As is often the case, children of different faiths are sent to schools run by one religious denomination or another. Plenty of non-Catholics send their children to Catholic schools-simply because they think they will get a better education there."

The insider also says that the Cruises are still strictly Scientologists, but maybe this is the beginning of Katie standing up for herself?

We shall see!

The Yawkey Centre for Early Education and Learning isn't a school! It's part of the Children's Museum of Boston. The Yawkey Center for Early Education and CARE is a day care and is run by Catholic Charities. Suri doesn't go to that school.

  4. 4

    Does it really matter ?

  5. 5

With all the amazing schools they could send her to they choose a catholic one?

  6. 6

suri is the cuteste celeb kid. so is halle berrys kid,

  7. 7

I thought she was going to go to Xenu school

  8. 8

The Boston papers and tv news talked about this a few days ago, saying that "the Internet was abuzz with this rumor", and it's not true. And you're only now posting it? Slipping on your "scoops" there Perez. You're becoming like Us Weekly, on stands a week after a story breaks. Especially considering it's already gone through the internet buzz cycle and fact checked by local news days ago!

  9. 9

    Strictly yesterday's news, sweetie.

  10. 10

Uhg. this is ridiculous. they make some big deal about there scientology devotion and then send there little brat to catholic skool?! RULE ON ATHIEST!!!!!!!!!!!

  11. 11

poor thing is going to have a lot of religious confusion growing up…

  12. ap076 says – reply to this

I live in Boston, get your facts correct idiot.

  13. 13

Re: Maggie the great – Why do you say it like that? Catholic schools have a way higher rate of producing college grads on a national level! I was wondering if you had a valid reason for your statement or just catholic bashing?

  14. 14

Tommmy Gurl is not her father

  15. 15

With a bottomless pile of money, you can have your pick of NON-RELIGIOUS schools. You cannot convince me that the Catholic school was the "best one" they could find for their situation. And it would probably be a better idea to home educate her, since they have unearthly schedules and an unearthly religion.

  16. 16

Who the hell in the world would think a better education is to be had at a Catholic school? By GOD, they teach about Adam and Eve and about the theory of a young earth/universe. Pathetic. People who transfer into public schools from Catholic schools are always years behind.

  17. 17

I thought Cruise said it is okay to be a scientologist and to be a Catholic too.

  18. 18

Wow I get more comments on myspace… buh bye

  19. 19

    Old News!!!

  20. 20

I don't actually think this is a sign they are no longer scientologists. I live in boston and don't know of any scientologist schools but maybe there is but I am just not in the know since well duh…no zenu in my heart. the only scientologists I have come across live in LA so not sure we have it much here.

  21. 21

    Scientology kills!
    Remember Lisa McPherson

  22. 22

Re: MileyCyrusLooksLikeAChipmunk – Your looking a bit over zealous there dearest! Speak facts, not personal opinion! You obviously do not know jack about parochial schools!

  23. 23

Re: MileyCyrusLooksLikeAChipmunk – you are so stupid, and no I am not Catholic, but you are still stupid.

  24. 24

  25. 25

Re: Maggie the greatRe: MileyCyrusLooksLikeAChipmunk – You obviously have no idea what you are talking about. Everyone I know that went to Catholic schools and then transferred to public schools, were about two years ahead in academics. They usually had to transfer because of the tuition costs.

  26. 26

Re: MileyCyrusLooksLikeAChipmunk – Fool, your comment makes you look like you're years behind. LOL thanks for the laugh.

  27. 27

Catholic schools are best. At least they were when I was in school. That's where the sluttiest girls were!

  28. 28

Isn't this going against a code in their alien book-of-law?!?! CHAOS.

  29. 29

Thank God Suri doesnt have to learn that Scientology crap, good for her

  30. 30

  31. 31

Wtf ?! I thought Tommy was a scientologist, ha poser

  32. 32

Re: zach swan – Haha. I attended a Catholic Boarding/Day girls school on the Gold Coast. Wild times.

  33. 33

$cientology is a Predatory Evil $pace Alien Mind Control CULT.

Mind Control is what they do.

Unfortunately, there is more than enough time to do permanent damage to this poor innocent kid's life.

    It's very sad.

    Poor Suri.

  34. 34

Haha that's right down the street from me. But yeah it's not even a preschool. I keep missing Tom/Katie/Suri & Co. by like minutes wherever I go in the city! They're all over! Same with Cameron Diaz & Ben Affleck.

  35. 35

Surihilton is right–this story is completely WRONG. The Boston Globe debunked this days ago. Suri was spotted visiting the Yawkey Center for Early Education and Learning which is part of the Children's Museum in Boston. Way to get a story straight, Enquirer!

  36. 36

Re: Oswald2001 – Ya, what I was thinking. People, look it up. Not good.

  37. 37

"but maybe this is the beginning of Katie standing up for herself?".. let's not be silly here Perez, WOMEN DON'T STAND UP FOR THEMSELVES!

  38. 38

"Suri Going to Catholic School" and TommyGirl is going on a diet, while Katie Holmes is going through deprogramming from Scientology? In a perfect world…

  39. 39

there both cults.at least catholics believe in god.good job katie

  40. 40

Well thank God for that decision!

  41. 41

i went to catholic school…im not catholic
actually modern catholic schools teach a lot about all kinds of world faiths over the years that you attend….its no longer just about the hail marys….i loved it

  42. 42

Re: Maggie the greatRe: spagetticakeRe: Novel1Re: MileyCyrusLooksLikeAChipmunk – etc.
All your opinions are spot on….shame that in this more enlightened day and age, there are still SOOO many ignorant cretins praising early religious indoctrination. Get them young enough so they are easier to brainwash into believing religious hypocrisy. Karl Marx had it right when he said "Religion is the opiate of the masses".

  43. 43

Tom is nice. He sent me a very long email.

  44. lbear says – reply to this

    Katie sure looks pregnant!

  45. 45

Re: Kevin1243 – Oh really? How "long" was it? It "came" in your in box?

  46. 46

    Re: MileyCyrusLooksLikeAChipmunk
Catholic schools teach evolution, you ill-informed idiot.

Religious intolerance is such an attractive trait…

  47. 47

Re: MileyCyrusLooksLikeAChipmunk – sorry to tell you but my daughter was not challenged in public school so you put her in a private catholic school! 5,000 dollar tuition & she's learning so much more in private school!

  48. 48

Re: nikitaolas – yes your correct! my daughter is learning so much more in second grade than her neighbor friend whose in public school! catholic school starts teaching kids to read in pre-k ! tuition is high though but it's worth it!

  49. 49

… i go to Catholic school and i'm not Catholic. nothing wrong with it. people need to calm down and not obsess about every little detail in someone's life.

  50. 50

and Catholic schools have a great educational status. so don's bash on Catholic schools. I had a choice of where to go for high school and i weighed in my options carefully… great college and do something i love, or have limits on what i want to do with my life. easy to say i chose the first one. i am not saying other schools are bad either so don't complain at me for that. just don't bash Catholic schools.

  51. 51

I totally agree with their decision …. Catholic schooling pretty decent at building character for up to, perhaps, grade 6.
After that, get the kids into a good public or private school, leave the Catholic schooling behind them, actually, run, not walk, away …. because that's when the brainwashing begins and/or bigotted hypocritical nonsense that only unravels all the benefits of what was taught earlier on.

  52. 52

Re: ShoeWhore – …and what 'hypocritical nonsense' would you be referring to, exactly?

  53. 53

Re: MileyCyrusLooksLikeAChipmunk – actually you're really wrong. i went to catholic school for 12 years and not once was Adam and Eve mentioned in the formation of the world. we were taught that it was a story and not to believe everything in the bible. the stories in the bible were ways of explaining why things were at the time they were written like greek mythology. i'm atheist now, but i got a great education from catholic school.

  54. 54

Same thing my mom did…send my siblings and I to private schools. We actually liked it and felt like we got a better education than we could have in the public schools near where we lived. I think we are all going to send our kids to private schools now, too.

  55. 55

    Re: ayslin

Science starts taking a back seat. Human diversity …. forget it. Now, let's not get into sexuality education, in fact, don't even mention it. Women … start getting used to the idea that you're second class citizens of the human species.
I can go on and on and on and on …..

  56. 56

It's really not that surprising. The origins of scientology are allegedly practiced by the catholic church as well. And I'm not talking about aliens here.

  57. 57

Re: ShoeWhore – Wrong on so many levels…I have to believe you did not attend catholic school

  58. epic says – reply to this

mhm.. ok.. i guess i read that 1 or 2 weeks ago.. you're very up to date!

  59. 59

    Re: blacklily.of.the.valley
I didn't, but my kids did …. and I yanked them out as soon as sex education was, ummmm, NOT taught properly (if at all, actually, wasn't taught pre-grade 6).
The religious mildew starting poking its head, no amount of disinfectant could clean it up.
I've friends who are teachers, all started out in Catholic school systems, and all, except one, have moved on to private or public school systems, because they couldn't take the scrutiny and hypocritical 'job descriptions'.
I find it difficult to explain away all the homosexual extracurricular activities that the clergy are prone to doing, whilst the dogma of the faith wants them all to go the way of the gas chambers, if you know what I mean …. and if you don't, well then, case closed ;)

  60. 60

    Re: Jackyl

No it DOES matter! Right now Sarah Silverman of Mount Temple Politico of Santa Monica Blvd. is organizing a non-sugar bake sale to raise funds to fight to retrieve the Cruise family fortune to pay for ALL of world hunger and the restoration of Santa Monica mountains bird watching resort!

  61. 61

She doesn't attend that school. Boston papers and school administrators confirmed this days ago.

  62. 62

Re: ShoeWhore – There are paedophiles in EVERY religion, society, race, walk of life. On EVERY continent & by all accounts in EVERY school. My children were allowed to choose the schools they went to. My daughter chose a Catholic school & in her senior years studied religion as it encompassed every major world religion. She now studies forensic science at uni (& astronomy for fun). She could also lecture hard on womens rights. You only need to see the responses on here of people who went to Cath. schools to see that perhaps your children had a bad experience but the majority don't.

  63. 63

If Suri were here to stay they'd enroll her at one of the elite preschools (Park, Beacon Hill Nursery, Old South) or at a school that feeds into elementary/middle/upper schools (BB&N, Milton Academy). The "school" you claim she's attending doesn't exist.

  64. 64

    Re: ShoeWhore
    Kudos, well said :)

  65. 65

Re: ShoeWhore – I got my BS in Cell and Developmental Biology from a tier one university, an MS in Oncologic Research, and am in the process of getting my MD - all because of the stellar scientific foundation my Catholic secondary (and primary) school instilled in me. Not quite the "back seat" subject in my life that you imply it should be.

"and I yanked them out as soon as sex education was, ummmm, NOT taught properly (if at all, actually, wasn't taught pre-grade 6)." - you say that the class was not taught properly (implying abstinence-only, I'm assuming?), but then clarify to say your kids did not remain in that school long enough to RECEIVE THE EDUCATION. It is in no way unusual for schools, public or private, to not include a health class (where sex ed is generally taught) until grade 6-7. Though, I would like to say that my CATHOLIC primary school had a sex ed class beginning in 5th grade, in which abstinence was encouraged (because we were TEN) but birth control and protection was explained.

  66. 66

    Re: ShoeWhore
I don't know what the f you mean by gas chambers. If you mean Catholicism wants to kill all homosexuals, JESUS CHRIST ARE YOU AN IDIOT. Catholicism, dogmatically, has NO PROBLEM with gay people. The problem lies in premarital sex. Sex is, in the Church's view, a means to conceive children in a marriage. As gay sex can produce no children, they're not cool with it. Again, I say, dogmatically. Masturbation and birth control fall in the same category.

And the priesthood doesn't have a monopoly on pedophiles, not by a long-shot.

Get your facts straight before you run your fool mouth.

  67. 67

Tom went to catholic schools as a kid…one of them was near me in Louisville, Ky

  68. 68

    Re: ayslin
Hey, "FOOL" … you forget that churches don't pay any sort of taxes.
YET !!!! churches (especially Catholic ones) feel the need to lobby governments (big NO NO according to any western democracies …) to make sure science doesn't run amok of any 'ethics' they deem to be god-worthy-ISH(?!?!?).
    Women are equal?
My daughter couldn't progress unhindered in theology based on her having ovaries/clit ….. even if she wanted to (OF COURSE I'D SMACK SENSE INTO HER and suggest she pursue architecture, dancing, acting, ANYTHING outside of theology) !!
Perhaps 9 out 10 people should just drop dead already …. maybe even 99 out of 100 should just turn to dust!!
ALL religion is a detriment to human dignity and evolution.
Name me one religion where women are equal with men in terms of standing, opportunity, where everyone is equal, where there's no fear of punitive actions for not being homogenous?

  69. 69

Re: ayslin – Oh, I guess you went past grade 6 in the Catholic school system.
So, gay people aren't supposed to have orgasms.
To be equitable, and I'm sure you'd have to agree, based on your revelation that you totally were at the teats of the catholic school system …. childless straight couples shouldn't be having orgams either. RIGHT?
Then all of these childless married couples should be uncool with the church. Right?
Do you think it's cool that they be forced to start producing kiddies whether they like it or not? Or should they just remain celibate, to be equal with their fellow gay humankind?
I hope you appreciate why I find your logic to be rather faulty, and kind of nazi-ish. RIGHT?!?!

  70. 70

How is Catholicism any less psycho than Scientology?

  71. 71

Re: pinkangelmonkey – HAHA! They sure do look like a bunch of bums! no class at all!

  72. 72

Re: ShoeWhore – AMEN!!!! :) Couldn't agree more! Religion is used to control children!

  73. 73

I doubt it. Katie is a spineless wimp.
Suri looks like a spoiled brat.
The other kids are gonna hate her.

  74. 74

This "news" is 2 days old. Do keep up.

Also the title of this movie has now been decided…again..DO keep up…………………………………………….!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  75. 75

    Re: El loco Norwegian

So does Christianity..remember Jesus. ? And a few hundred wars fought in its name… hoo boy…….

  76. 76

    Re: MileyCyrusLooksLikeAChipmunk

Your right! Who gives a fuck about those people who are talking shit. Catholic schools are the worst, they brainwash young children. so sad.

  77. 77

    Re: LauraLou
Religion does control children. but dont say amen! ;)

  78. 78

Catholic school for non-Catholics, really? I don't understand why you would send your kid to the school of faith you don't ascribe to. Also, a disproportionate number of the kids I knew grewing up who went to Catholic schools came out not any brighter, often less, and pretty skanky and wild. People are so misguided.

  79. 79

Re: gravytoot – Haha, I believe to each their own, but that made me LOL.

  80. 80

    don't believe thiz
    catholicz don't allow alienz in..heheheheeeeeeee
    to get in ……
    2 thingz required:::::
    #1). u have 2 luv pedofilez
#2). u have 2 luv fat nunz who beat y'r children
    don't hate me…
I didn't rape millionz of kidz in

  81. 81

Katie will never be able to stand up for herself as long as she's married to that piece of crap control freak!!! I applaud the decision for getting good early education for Suri!

  82. 82

A double dose of brain washing for the spoiled rotten one.

  83. 83

It's not a Catholic School, Perez. It's a learning center and mostly and after- school program. It doesn't teach in the Catholic school tradition (it's not even near a church). It's mostly geared towards preparing young children for grade school and having children focus on charity in their everyday lives. Learn the facts before you spout the crap.

  84. 84

Just a glorified babysitter - what else could it be at her age? I bet when it comes time to send her to school it won't be Catholic! Tom gets what he wants and that is the way it is in that family. He dominates Kate and you can see this in her actions and in her face. She is clearly not a happy person. She should have walked away when she had a chance now there is a child involved and she is in it for the haul… Wouldn't be surprised if they didn't have another one…She has come to love her way of life and the doors that have opened up for her and she isn't going to give that up if being Mrs. Tom Cruise is all she has to do. You pay a price for all the good things you want out of life!

  85. 85

okay the v-neck shirts not workin for u too well tom

  86. Jbo says – reply to this

I was raised Lutheran and my mom's boss got me into a "hard to get into" pre-school and it was Catholic and in a Catholic church. I LOVED it and don't remember any weird religious rituals or having to pray…

  87. over says – reply to this

That makes no sense, scientology teaches that religion is a farse that it's an illusion, simply created to enslave human kind, so why send suri to a catholic school, they could have just sent her to a regular private school. They have so many different types and with their money the ski is the limit.

  88. 88

Katie holmes when to Catholic School in Toledo Ohio…Notre Dame Academy…so of course she's not going to care………..

  89. 89

Honestly Catholic schools are good but so are others. Its good to be religous but be open to other cultures too.

  90. 90

It's just a child care run out of a catholic school. There is no catholic influence or education.

  91. 91

    Re: ilovethejonasbrothers301

    Take note Sarah Silverman…

  92. 92

I used to work for a Scientologist and according to them, you can still practice your religion. I don't know how, with the conflicting views though. Anyway, I think the big conflict would be that chose any school over one of their mission schools. And I do have to say, when the kids came in from the mission for their exams, they were some of the best behaved children I have ever met! The children monitor each other and don't let any of them get away with bad behavior. All of us catholics were very impressed. I know I never met a nun who could get me to behave that well!

  93. 93

I would send my child to the Gulag or Abu Ghraib before I'd send him to a Catholic school.

  94. LDD says – reply to this

Wow, it's nice to see Tom being accepting of Katie's religion.

  96. LDD says – reply to this

Re: ayslin – Hey, don't argue with those idiots… it's the new thing to not belief in God and to make fun of people who do and also call them brainwashed… it'll fade away… lol I feel bad for people who spend so much time trying to attack other peoples religions.. It really must bug them or something!

  97. LDD says – reply to this

    Re: contrarianchick

Wow.. you must really hate your kids then!

I Love how people are so close minded, you see stuff on tv and thats all you know … and then you make stupid comments like you just did lol… you look so stupid

  98. 98

interestingggggg….I guess his publicist thought this was a good PR move? Less cult, more actual religion? Good advice.

  99. 99

My niece went to a Catholic pre-school and our family loved it! Pre-school doesn't mean she's going to be locked into the Catholic school system for life. Give them a break!
