The Gosselins Are More Popular Than Melrose Place

Sad news for the much anticipated DJ A.M. documentary. Earlier this month, MTV received the approval from Adam Goldstein's family to air his intervention documentary series Gone Too Far.
The show features young, real-life addicts and their loved ones while they attempt to get clean with help from Adam. However, the premiere on Monday only brought in 500,000 viewers. That's very low for MTV standards.
We're a bit surprised. We figured people might tune in to view the last bit of Adam's work.
But MTV isn't giving up hope on the show yet. According to an MTV spokesperson, the network still plans to keep the show in its time slot.
As for the reality trainwreck show Jon & Kate Plus 8 Kate Plus 8, their episode actually did better than the previous one. The show went up to 2.5 million viewers this week as opposed to 1.7 million last week.
But poor Melrose Place. People must be tired of watching Ashlee Simpson on the screen as the last episode brought in just 1.4 million viewers. That's a 22% drop and the show's lowest ratings yet.
Cancellation time, maybe?

Look how sloppy John is! Ha ha! Everyone would watch that instead, MTV needs to start playing more MUSIC instead of reality shows 24/7, no offense to DJ AM of course, he was an amazing artist!
I started to watch DJ AM's show.. but I coudn't do it. He died from drugs! And the show is about him helping others kick drugs? It doesn't work. If the show had been about anything else, I think it would have huge ratings.
ughh i hate ashlee simpson …but i kinda like melrose place i didnt watch it last night but its not too bad. but melrose place did better than dj am's documentary though???i guess you cant say anything bad about that because he died.. btw 500,000 viewers suck!!!! .. i really liked the whole concept of his show though a drug addict trying to help other drug addicts quit even though he keeps on taking drugs himself. psshhh you make fun of lindsay lohan because she takes drugs but if she dies of drugs you would probably be pretending to be her best friend as well…your soo lame

I hate to say this but Ashlee on last nights episode was pretty good….she sure started to channel the old Sydney mixed with a little bit of Psycho Kimberly…..she may not be perfect on the show but she is improving…..but please stop saying the show will be canned….not to fear…Heather will be back next month!
DJ A.M. was loved by many, but he was a friend to Celebs and a portion of music afficienados. I think those that loved him were't necessarily the type to watch a Celeb Trainwreck out of morbid curiosity.
Does that equal viewership? It was already produced. Might as well throw it on the wall and see if it sticks. If there were Celeb interviews intercut or bookended with the program, it may have seen more viewers. That would have been interesting. There are just too many high profile Celeb programs out there right now to compete with this Documentary.
MTV notoriously "thrifty" may have seen the writing on the wall that this was going to be a dud.
It's not like DJ AM was that huge or anything with the mainstream. He was really only popular among stupid LA celebrities.

Seriously? Who wants addiction advice from a guy who killed himself doing drugs? Not that he was evil for succumbing to his addictions, but to take advice from someone who eventually failed and met his end at his addiction is just insensitive and ludacris. There are plenty of better, more qualified addiction shows, than the drug addicted DJs. Like Intervention on A&E, which is an amazing show.
ashlee is actually pretty good on the show. she has the best character because she plays the psycho! i loveee it . hopefully it stays on but i doubt it!

Ashlee Simpson is my only complaint about Melrose Place. Otherwise, I really like it. But her "acting" is so bad, it's driving me away from the show. It's so hard to watch.

Why would you assume anybody would tune in to watch that? The guy was unknown excpet for the fact that he once slept with that has-been Nichole Ritchie, that was it, end of story. Just because a few people in LA liked his DJ-ing doesn't mean that anybody else out there cared. Not to be a dick, but why would you assume anybody outside LA cared?
Asslee is terrible on that show! Couldn't they have found someone better looking?

I totally wanted to see the DJ AM show, but I had no clue when it was coming on. I haven't seen one add for the show…but then again I don't watch MTV. ADVERTISE!!!!

I went to a private screening of Melrose place,I was not impressed.bad writing.and blocking,,I thought the acting was not good at all.there hoping to get the same populariary as the old show….ya right so not gonna happen
I was going to watch the DJ AM show…but I couldn't stomach the hypocrisy and irony of the guy preaching to those kids being dead from a drug overdose now…so I voted against it and watch My Antonio instead, lol.
P.S. Asslee Simpson could go get bent…not watching that skank do anything. sorry Melrose place.
It is the advertising MTV does. I had no idea the show aired last Monday, or i would have watched it. It has nothing to do with people not caring.

I am not at all surprised that people didn't tune into this show - MTV must really have a low opinion of the viewing public if they thought we'd be interested in watching such crap.
I totally forgot that it was coming on. I hope MTV doesn't give up on it. I think it's prolifically powerful to see DJ AM still struggling to help other people while he was alive. It's sometimes easier to tell other people the things you need to hear yourself than to love yourself and do the right thing for you. I am so sad about his demise.
yah, melrose sucks. i watched the first episode. ashlee is so baaaaaaaad. heather locklere coming in is just so desperate. and dj am….well it is kinda like that mel gibson Christ movie…we already know how it ends. It should be offensive for drug addicts he tried to save…i mean, his hypocrisy knows no bounds, people.

Adam's show was done tastefully and the portrayal of an addict was no holds barred. He had a qualified interventionist there on the show with him. To those who cry hypocrisy he was not using when this show was filmed (it is obvious if you watched it) and relapse is all to often the case for folks in recovery. It does not disqualify him from trying to help others especially with 10 sober years under his belt. BTW MTV should be applauded for doing this as a public service. The first episode aired without commercial interruption except for ads with info for folks seeking addiction help.
Can't stand the Simpsons and won't watch it because one of them is in there. Goddamn bunch of wannabees with no talent!
Last thing about Simpsons.. These girls have an overbearing father worried about paying for his lifestyle in the background and what an obsessed actor he is, never ever will he show his desperation pushing them, that is why they are shoved in our faces and not because there is talent. Let the show be cancelled and please, no more Simpsons.
NOOOOOO! I love Melrose Place!!!! I even watched ALL of the original episodes to prepare!!! ELLA SIMS IS FIERCE!!!!!! Plus, I want to see Amanda (Heather Locklear) come back…Jane (Josie Bisset) is such a tease!!!! Michael is okay…I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to see yummy Billy, not so much Allison…maybe Jo and Jake…
I tried watching Melrose Place and changed channels after watching Asshole Simpson trying to act sexy. There she was, in a doctor's office, shirt unbuttoned and standing pigeon-toed. Her acting is horrible and she is ugly. She needs to go or the show will have to be cancelled. Whoever cast her should be fired.
