Van Sant And Easton Ellis Team Up For Suicide!

The dark and talented minds behind such films as Last Days and American Psycho will be bringing us one twisted tome!

Director Gus Van Sant and author Bret Easton Ellis will team up to pen a feature film based on The Golden Suicides, a Vanity Fair article written by Nancy Jo Sales detailing the double suicides of artists Theresa Duncan and Jeremy Blake.

The romantically involved couple gained notoriety in the New York and Venice, CA art scenes. Duncan was one of the first videogame designers for girls and Blake became known for his "digital paintings," kaleidoscopic images shown on plasma screens.

Their paranoid downward spiral began as they increasingly believed that government and religious organizations were conspiring against them. In 2007, Duncan killed herself and Blake discovered her on their bedroom floor. One week later, he walked in the Atlantic Ocean to end his own life.

We're so curious to see the result of this collaboration!

Wowsa!

      Dorothy Parker said of suicide:
      Razors pain you
      Rivers are damp
      Acid stains you
      Drugs cause cramp
      Guns arn't lawful
      Nooses give
      Gas smells aweful
      YOU MIGHT AS WELL LIVE!

Oh dear. This scares me a little. They were both such talents. If you haven't already, Perez, you should watch her animated film "The History of Glamour". It's amazing. www.vivaswag.com

This should be good. Ellis can email his rewrites from the Amsterdam opium den he calls home and Van Sant can cast Matt Damon in the leading lady role so he can figure out what motivates a woman to do anything. Or better yet, cast Sean Peen and this ex, the lovly and talented Madge.

Movies based on Bret Easton Ellis books always seem to suck hard. Did anyone see "the Informants"?? What a stinking steaming turd of a movie. So bloody boring and slow=paced and what was excess in the 80s (a constant theme in his books) is nothing shocking now, just tame and quaint and amusing in comparison to today's world. I will NOT be standing in line for this one.

Yet another Vanity Fair story about rich, decadent but glamorous people from the right demographic.
I thought after Dominick Dunne died we might be spared such trifling matters. Oh, well.

I remember reading the article "the Golden Suicide".
it's weird that even though, I didn't know about them at all, I was so mesmerized by them and the article. definitly gonna be watching this movie…

Easton Ellis kept his career going. Iknow for a fact he no longer uses ANY drugs and thinks pot and opium are lame. Let the haters be your motivators. Team Bret Easton Ellis. All the way….

Bret was right about Hollywood. Look at Michael Jackson, Heath Ledger, Anna Nicole. Think about how all of his work has somehow happened in real life and continues to be on the news, especially this year. For those who condemn BEE, do any of you even have a career or just a job? There is truth in all his work and it is happening everyday in LA where rich miserable people make poor choices.

Just because you're paranoid, don't mean they're not after you…
