We can't say we're surprised after he was busted in that massage parlor sting earlier this year!
James Jeffrey Archuleta has filed for divorce from his wife of more than 20 years Lupe Marie.
The couple have 5 children together, including singer David Archuleta, 3 of which are minors and they'll share joint physical custody. They are divorcing due to "irreconcilable differences."
The Archuletas previously filed for divorce back in 2002 but after David placed first in the Star Search competition they reconciled.
Sounds like they must have been having problems for awhile.
Sorry to hear about your parents, Archie, but sometimes it's the best thing for everyone!

"irreconcilable differences." means daddy is a control freak and momma stopped letting him control her now she knows what the real worlds about and not morman submissivness. dads always been a control freak still to this day i beleive thats why cookie won and not twink.

Too bad for David and siblings, but hopefully for the best. I like the kid, even if I can't say I'm a huge fan of his music. When he was on Idol, I thought he seemed like a genuinely nice kid. Wishing him the best in his career.

My understanding i that the father was was a stage parent of the first order and a control freak, especially over his 2nd place finishing American Idol son. Sounds like the only "happy ending" here is the one the father received in the massage parlor.
good for david and lupe - i despise jeff archuleta with a passion… i feel for david, as no child likes to see their parents come to this, but in the long run, he's better off without that smarmy bastard.

Joey1991 - David Archuleta has plenty of fans of all ages. I'm one of his older fans. I feel bad for David and his family that the divorce is all over the web. The momentum was great on his new Christmas album and upcoming tour. He was so happy about the album and also enjoying the long songwriting session in Nashville. Fans were very pumped up about the whole holiday season and his next pop album. Have to rebuild momentum again, this time going against at tide of unhelpful press. I feel like the time my childhood bike's front brake locked up and flung me over the handlebars.

joey91 - to be honest, you're a nobody - david is famous, and there you have it. that's just how it is… lotta people other than teens care about and like this guy… he's one of the very few singers out here with some real honest to god talent that isn't fucked up, strung out, an ego maniac or self centered… divorce sucks, regardless how old you are when your parents decide to pull the plug, and it sucks regardless of your status, fame or none. you should be a little more compassionate, since you've been through it… or did your folks split up your heart in the settlement, and leave you lacking.

I really despise when people come here and imply news like this shouldn't be on here b/c everybody gets divorces and boohoo, nobody was sorry for me. David is a media personality, and a VERY WELL LOVED one at that.. You simply sound like you didn't get enough love as a child, and I'm sorry for that. But you're very wrong about David's fans as well as how many people care about him. My suggestion to you is to run to a Walmart and pick him David's new Christmas album.. trust me you'll feel much better after you listen to it. Cheers!

To everyone that says they don't care. There are thousands of people who do. I feel so sorry for David and the rest of his family. A divorce is one of the hardest things to go through.
