This Is Not A Joke! Boy Flies Away In Homemade Balloon!!!!
A 6-year-old boy has floated away today in a homemade balloon in northeastern Colorado!!!
The balloon is saucer-shaped and covered with foil. The compartment where the boy is located sits below the balloon filled with helium and it is made of thin plywood. Apparently it was a project between the boy and his dad.
The balloon is currently about 8,000 feet in the air and projected to rise to 10,000 feet!
The Fort Collins police are among the authorities tracking the aircraft and it could wander into the Denver International Airport's air traffic control corridors.
This is awful–he must be terrified!
Hopefully he gets rescued somehow soon and can return to his family safely!
Update: The balloon landed and the boy was not inside! It is believed he fell out somewhere along the way.

Re: Serena!!!COLON!!! You Twats – Uh, no - you're stupid. He was never more than 3500' above the ground. He was at 8000' in elevation and Fort Collins is over a mile (5200') in elevation. Simple math.

Re: Serena!!!COLON!!! You Twats – Oh, and NO, people do NOT live at 13000' above sea level, in America, at least. Leadville, CO (where I used to live) is the highest incorporated town in the US and it's at 10,200' in elevation. Maybe they have towns that high in Tibet, but not here in America.

Um tree line in Colorado is around 11,500 ft, humans do not live at 13,000 ft. I've been watching this since the 1st local new chopter was tracking it (about 5-10 mins after take off). I just don't understand why the parents never mentioned that the "basket" was missing until after the balloon landed. Something is really suspect here. Poor little guy.

I live in Denver and the boy has been found. He was NEVER in the balloon as his brother stated. He was afraid of getting into trouble when the balloon took off and he was hiding in his attic the entire time. He is safe and sound at home. By the way, the balloon was made of mylar NOT foil and dad was a storm chaser.
