Nothing Is Sacred! Rainbrow Brite 2.0 Has Arrived!

Honestly, we'd like to get on board with this, but we won't. We don't like how everything from the 80s is being picked up for this generation, but re-envisioned into shiz.

If you were a fabulous little girl of the late 80s, you remember Rainbow Brite and her friends, the Color Kids. Brite was super cute, with just a little pudge to her size and she had "the most magnificent horse in the universe" named Skylite and she was all together just awesome!

Well, Brite has been brought to the new millennium and someone thought she would look much better if she was taller and thinner and more of a supermodel anime character rather than a cute cartoon.

Just what little girls need - another image they can't conform to! Thanks Hallmark!

Even the Sprites look weird!!!

No, no! We don't like this at all!

Do U?

JESUS CHRIST! Is there really NO creative talent out there? Can't someone come up with something new and different?? New characters, new stories, new plots?!?! I agree, all that is sacred from my childhood is being reused and turned into crap! Fuck Michael Bay for turning the Transformers into crappy movies, never should have been allowed to happen, now Rainbow Brite is being turned into some kind of cheapass skinny model dolls, what's next? The Smurfs? The Gummi Bears? The Thundercats?!

      Re: Alisa-Chan – AMEN!

    3. 103

Re: GoodnightGoldie – Yep, it's Starlight. Ha ha, I still have my Rainbow Brite record…"Starlight, Rainbow Brite, a little wish in the moonlight, sunbeam, sparkle and shine, you'll always be a friend of mine!"

    4. 104

chin lo unico que nos faltaba

    5. 105

I agree with you, but I have to call hypocrisy. Every time you show a larger woman, you're quick to dis her for her size, and it isn't right. Do let's have a little consistency.

    6. 106

      NOO! THEY RUINED IT!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO - ANother memory childhood spoiled

    8. 108

WTF !!!!! RAINBOW BRITE WAS MY ALL TIME FAV WHEN I WAS A LITTLE GIRL ,I HAD RAINBOW BRITE EVERYTHING AND WATCHED HER SHOW ALL THE TIME , NOW THEY ARE MAKING HER AND THE COLOR KIDS LOOK LIKE SOME STREETWALKING ANIME WHORE'S !!!! THERE IS NO WAY MY KID WILL WATCH THIS SHIZ . I'D LOVE THE IDEA IF THEY LEFT HER ALONE AND MADE HER LOOK JUST LIKE SHE DID WHEN I WAS A KID. STUPID PRODUCTION COMPANIES ALWAYS GOTTA SCREW WITH THE CLASSICS

    9. 109

Not at all! They really do need to stop "re-viving (if you will)" stuff from the 80's and giving it to this generation…sorry guys, but it's not our fault you weren't lucky enough to be born in the 80's! Leave the classics alone and let these kids play with their damn iphones ha!…ridiculous!

    10. 110

Her horses name is STARlite not skylite stupid. It looks like crap. They ruined it just like they ruined Strawberry Shortcake. Lame.

    11. 111

How come when they bring shit back they make it ugly and/or slutty looking. I like the original Rainbow Bright, original Strawberry Shortcake (new one is fug), and original everything else.

    12. 112

I have vintage Rainbow Brite dolls for sale. Lots of them.

    13. 113

NOOOOO! WTF Rainbowbright is untouchable why are they doing this? They made her look like a hoe, she looks like she's anorexic or somethin

    14. 114

That's so wrong!! Can't little girls have any positive images. They used to be so cute now they look more like the infamous Bratz dolls. Another doll I'll have to say no to!

    15. 115

I wrote them an e mail and told them how stupid they are.

    16. 116

UGH!!!! Don't ruin my childhood jerks.

    17. 117

      NO! Such bs.
I'm keeping my issue the article from Glamour magazine to show to my daughters one day. Such bs.

    18. 118

because a cartoon aimed at young children needs boobs?

    19. 119

omggggg i loved ranbow brite :( :( :( they dnt look cute or anything now :(

    20. 120

I love it! Very cute and up to date! Let's face it-we are no longer in the 80's!!!

    21. 121

Perez, you surely are a stupid fuck, the horses name was Starlite, not Skylite. And everyone just needs to get over them remaking 80's shows for today's generation…if rainbow bright, in original form, were to air today, it would not be as popular, they have to change the show to match the times so people just need to get over it.

    22. 122

      FUCK HALLMARK.

    23. 123

What a huge dissapointment!!!! Another classic ruined!!! My bedroom was rainbow bright 22-24 years ago..My daughter and I watch episodes of the original on line…….She WILL NOT be tuning in

    24. 124

Her horse's name was STARLITE. Not Skylite. Dummy.

    25. 125

I quit. I just do. I've been transported back in time to a very scary place, so now, i qiut.

    26. 126

No!!!! What the hell are they thinking??? Why do they always think skinny is better this is crap. She was my favorite doll and all I ever wanted for Christmas when I was 6. Why people why??

    27. 127

For someone who thinks she was all together just awesome, you sure are stupid. It was Starlite, not Skylite, you twit.

    28. 128

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the horse's name Starlite?

    29. 129

this is terrible. rainbow brite was so wonderful and now it will just be crap..

    30. 130

WTF!!! Rainbow Brite was a hit then and it will be a hit now, no need for stupid media people to mess up with it. Sh** always have to ruin nice cartons!!! Geez I wonder why our kids are so F***** concern about thier looks. We have to stop Sh** like this!!

    31. 131

NOOO! i hate the new rainbow brite look! i loved the old rainbrow brite. my friends and i used to pretend to be her and her friends and we didnt care about her apparent "weight"… what is this world coming to??

    32. 132

no no NO! how could they do that?! if you bring it back bring it BACK the right way.. the original way! kids liked it then and they'll still like it just how it was!.. maybe in HQ but the same looking characters!

    33. 133

No, no NO!!! This is awful!

    34. 134

      So sad:(

I was foolish enough to sign the petition for Strawberry Shortcake dolls to be sold again, only to find out that they pulled a fast one and updated everyone.

Now it looks like Rainbow Brites is getting the same raw deal, and why do they look like tweens playing in the older sister's outfits and hair gel.

Think 80s: JUST SAY NO !

    35. 135

CRAAAAAAAAAAAP!!!! I WILL NOT BUY THIS FOR MY GOD-DAUGHTER OR MY NEICE AT ALL! What the hell? They looks cheap and too sexy for a childs toy. As if Barbie wasn't bad enough now more of the same?? Disappointed in the powers that be in the re-envisioning of this toy.

    36. 136

      NONONONO. Just STOP.

    37. 137

Some things should just be left alone, Rainbow Brite being one of those things! I guess no one can think of anything original anymore so they're fucking up the good stuff.

    38. 138

THESE FUCKING COMPANIES NEED TO STOP SEELLING OUT OUR FUCKING CHILDHOODS!! NEW GENERATION GET UR OWN IDENTITY AND UR OWN SHIT!!

    39. 139

THESE FUCKING COMPANIES NEED TO STOP SELLING OUT OUR FUCKING CHILDHOODS!! NEW GENERATIONS NEED TO GET UR OWN IDENTITIES AND THERE OWN SHIT!!

    40. 140

So highly unfortunate… The magic of Rainbow Brite was largely due to the way it was drawn, and now it looks like a new version of the Bratz, Moxie Girls, Dora Girlz (aka big-headed, large-eyed, stick-bodied dolls). I mean, I understand the point of making money, and creating a cartoon series based on a toy (Jem and the Holograms) but come on!?! Not only is it disturbing that they totally had to change the way it looked but now the are just going to throw in new characters? Another lovely 80's thing totally ruined by people who are trying to make money… We will have to put the tombstone next to that of the original Strawberry Shortcake. :(

      141

Oh nooooo… and they look like whores!

    42. 142

Really? Not interested! Should have left her alone!

    43. 143

this is so very wrong and f-ed up! also the horse is named STARLIGHT not skylight.

    44. 144

      LAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    45. 145

not a fan at all! nothing compares to the original!

    46. 146

What's next are they going to re-vamp He-Man

    47. 147

weird I vaguely remember you Perez, commenting about stars being fat or looking preggers if they have a few extra lbs…practice what you preach. The "new" rainbow bright is not nearly as cute
