Kids In Rehab!

Kids are growing up fast these days and the rehab shows aren't just for VH1 and MTV anymore!
Nickelodeon's Nick News with Linda Ellerbee is going to take a look at kids and younger teens who wind up in rehab for substance abuse.
Ellerbee says of the upcoming installment of the show called Kids in Rehab:
"We live in a culture where drug use is glamorized, and celebrities may be sending a message that going to rehab is sort of like going to a spa. But real rehab is no spa. Some brave kids spoke to us honestly about their drug abuse, what it's like to be a kid in rehab and what it's like to try to live clean and sober after that. And it ain't easy."
Wow.
Education on these issues is very important, but it's unfortunate that we live in a society where we have to show kids the many dangers of drugs based on their own peers!
But better to teach 'em while they're young, we guess!

You go Linda Ellerbe!! I remember her so well because back in the day people always used to tell my mother that she resembled her. She was one of the female breakouts in the journalism business back in the day when journalists were usually men, but always people with college journalism degrees and not just fat asses cutting and pasting behind a keyboard like Perez and Co. She is also 17 year breast cancer survivor. You go girl! I hope she gets major props for this.
Perez, you are part of that culture that glamorizes rehab.
Drugs and rehab aren't cool. Drugs are a waste of your life and rehab sucks big time and should never be glamorized…
i love it!
kids out there think that its cool to do drugs cuz they only see plus side ( not that there is one )
but like… if they do it they are cool
or…. if they sell it they make a lot of money
they don't see how mad it can make your life
so i love love love this
Let's hope Lindsay Lohan watches Linda Ellerbe's program about young people in rehab and LEARNS something before she OD's on drugs/alcohol.
IT'S GOOD THAT THEY'RE REACHING OUT TO CHILDREN ABOUT DRUG ABUSE. WHEN YOU THINK ABOUT IT THOUGH, WHY WOULD A CHILD USE DRUGS? BECAUSE THEY'RE UNHAPPY WITH THEIR LIFE IN SOME WAY. WHO'S FAULT IS THAT? THE PARENTS. SOME OF THESE PARENTS NEED A SHOW ABOUT HOW TO PROPERLY RAISE THEIR CHILD.
I think this is actually a good idea. I'm a huge Metal music fan and it's glamourized BIG TIME in it but people don't realize how distructive it can be. Frankly some young people are really impressionable so a show like this might be a good kick in the head they need.
They see stuff with adults but you never see kids in rehab so when you think about it, these could be people they could relate to.
I've Always thought well of her.
I used to watch her when I was little before going to sleep late at night. That show is genious and its so educational for young ones.
You don't know what you're talking about, Perez/Barbara/Ghost Writier.
Peer education, especially for young people, is very effective.
Linda Ellerbee is a talented journalist.
Love Linda!! Just such an awesome woman
wow she looks good
Think of the blood spilt for that high.
.
Look it up. Innocent people, caught in the middle. Daily. Dead. Wiped out indigenous cultures. BABIES! Who are you supporting for that escape. Think about it. From the little hit now and then to full on habits. Your high equals blood of innocents!
.
For your high. You are killing more than yourself.
You have GOT to be kidding me, Perez!!! To say it's sad to used teens peers to show the dangers and consequences of drug abuse, it's totally moronic of you. Teens and young people are soooo greatly influenced by peers and peer pressure. I think, them seeing, just how easily drug addiction happens in kids their own age, is a great way to inform and educate. Yes, it is sad that our young people are so targeted with things these days..and it seems drug addiction/alcohol abuse is occurring earlier and earlier in life. Getting the message out is a key way to help curb this current trend.
Re: Randaleese – What he means is it's sad that there's a necessity to show kids this. That there are kids who get into drugs so early who can be used as an example. Not that they shouldn't be used, but that there are examples period is the part that's sad.
Like literally sad. He's not using the term for 'pathetic', he's using it for its actual meaning.
I remember her
who,what,where, when & why????
I can't stand watching her she is so annoying, "and so its goes", blech!!!!!!!!!!!
Is she wearing converse high-top sneakers in that photo.
LMAO!! I went to rehab in HS, and all I learned was that there were more drugs out there I hadn't tried yet!!
Re: playergnslngr – lol.
I love that Linda Ellerbe wears chuck taylors. This woman is brilliant.
This is a great show. Keep it up. Too bad majority of the generation sees it as a joke. Sad.
OMG Linda Ellerbe, i thought she dies lol… I remember her show beinfg LAME and always changing the channel when she came on
right on,finally someone positive in the world.theres too much negitive crap like vampires bullshit, and witchcraft based shows.even cartoon for kids using witchcraft the acult. thats why people are all screwed up.get back to basics remember who put you here ,,,god..not L ron hubbart ,
As a recovering addict, I think this is a fantastic show/idea! She is a remodel for women w/ all her accomplishments.
It's so sad that A LOT of parents don't talk to their children about drug awareness. And the fact that kids are having to be put in rehab because of negligence of their parents. My husband & myself take the time to talk to our 3 kids about drugs, alcohol and gun safety so they will have some knowledge of things that are dangerous. I would hate to be one of those parents that had to put one of my kids in rehab because I didn't take the time to tell them about the dangers. Sounds to me like there is negligence on some of these parents and maybe they need to go to a parental rehab or parenting classes. But good for Linda Ellerbee for doing something like this! Kudos!
I was never able to focus through any of Linda Ellerbee's programs growing up but I do realize the importance of it. I may actually watch this special now though.
